WhatsApp for iPhone adopts Liquid Glass, completely renewing the chat interface with a new look
The WhatsApp application is implementing the Liquid Glass visual effect in the chat interface for iOS devices, marking another phase in the platform’s redesign process. This transformation seeks to align the messenger with the visual language characteristic of Apple’s operating system.
Previously, the screen dedicated to conversations maintained much of its old layout, contrasting with other sections. Although the Liquid Glass effect had already been introduced in areas such as the chat list and the updates tab, the messaging interface remained without major visual changes.
With app version 26.25.10.16, the message bar now appears as a floating element above the conversation content. This component stands out for a translucent effect, which allows partial visibility of what is in the background.

The button to access the most recent messages also received a similar aesthetic adjustment. The navigation bar, located at the top of the screen, was also updated, incorporating the transparency already present in other parts of the application.
In addition to these changes, a subtle transition effect was applied to improve readability and reinforce the sensation of depth, a central element of the new style. According to WhatsApp, the integration of Liquid Glass is not limited to just aesthetic purposes.
The company, which belongs to Meta and underwent a recent change in its global leadership, argues that transparency and depth effects are crucial. They aim to make the interface more dynamic and harmonious with the content displayed, offering an improved and more modern visual experience for iPhone users, following Apple’s design trend, which often explores these elements in its own interfaces to create a perception of layers and fluidity.
The release of this update occurs gradually, initially reaching some users enrolled in the WhatsApp beta program for iOS, through TestFlight. Other users who use the version available on the App Store can also begin to receive the functionality progressively, with the expectation that the feature will be expanded to everyone in the coming weeks.
