Forecast warns of torrential rain in Fukuoka and Saga, Japan, with the formation of a linear band of storms
Residents of northern Kyushu face a warning of intense rain scheduled for the morning of this Tuesday, the 25th, extending until the afternoon. A new meteorological projection indicated the likely formation of linear rain bands in Fukuoka and Saga prefectures.
The forecast indicates that the rainy front will remain stationary over the Kyushu region, significantly intensifying the danger of the development of these linear rain bands in Fukuoka and Saga in the early hours of the 25th. These formations are known for causing exceptionally high volumes of water in specific areas, a worrying characteristic of the Japanese monsoon season. The alert, covering half a day for the tracks, was originally published the night before, the 24th.

It is estimated that, throughout the 25th, rainfall will reach volumes of up to 50 millimeters in the Chikugo area, in Fukuoka, and in the southern and northern portions of Saga. In the early hours of the 25th, around 1 am, several points in Saga received level 3 alerts for intense rain and risk of landslides. Municipalities in both prefectures, in response, triggered level 3 evacuation recommendations, aiming to protect elderly and vulnerable individuals. Authorities emphasize the importance of following official information on disaster prevention and consulting the Japan Meteorological Agency’s “Kikikuru” risk map to assess the probability of occurrences.
