Leweling, from Germany, will give Ronaldo’s iconic haircut if the German team wins the 2026 World Cup
During a press conference held last Tuesday (23), German striker Jamie Leweling drew attention by making a unique promise. He stated that if Germany lifts the 2026 World Cup trophy, they will adopt the striking hairstyle that Ronaldo Fenômeno sported in Brazil’s victorious campaign in 2002.
“We still have some important matches before the grand final, but if the victory is ours, I will definitely make that cut. It’s a promise I make to my country”, declared the team’s number 9, with a visible good mood.
The fun connection between Leweling and the legendary former Brazilian player didn’t just emerge during the current phase of the World Cup. The young striker had already gained prominence on digital platforms for using a profile image that displayed the famous “cascão cut”, a look immortalized by Ronaldo in the 2002 World Cup that became a symbol of that achievement and marked the history of world football.
The repercussion of this virtual tribute was such that it reached the Phenomenon himself, who was moved and decided to return the affection. Leweling said he was presented with an official Brazilian team shirt, which was autographed by the star he admires.
“They noticed that I changed my profile photo for one with Ronaldo’s cut. It was just a relaxed look, but it ended up generating unexpected attention, and he ended up sending me a shirt. A journalist from Brazil delivered it”, detailed the athlete.
Interestingly, it was exactly in a match against Germany that Ronaldo starred in one of the most emblematic moments of his career on the pitch. In the 2002 World Cup final, the striker, wearing the number 9 shirt, found the net twice, securing a 2-0 victory and Brazil’s unprecedented fifth world championship.
