Postponed to 2027, Lords of the Fallen 2 focuses on improvement and avoids competition from titles like GTA 6
The release date of Lords of the Fallen 2 was postponed to 2027. The information was confirmed by Marek Tyminski, CEO of CI Games, who had predicted the game’s arrival for the second half of 2026. The main reason given for the change is the search for improvement and reinforcement of the quality of the title.
In a statement, the executive detailed the development process, mentioning the collaboration with the Gameplay Feedback Team. This group, made up of experienced veterans of the Souls genre, works within the CI Games Creative Launch Team. Their continued contributions, coupled with the developers’ vision, have revealed significant opportunities to refine the overall game experience. These improvements require additional time to be fully integrated, reviewed and finalized, ensuring the team delivers the highest standard of quality at launch.
Tyminski also highlighted that the postponement offers a strategic advantage by avoiding the hectic release schedule at the end of 2026. The month of September 2026, for example, is full of big games, as many companies seek to avoid the expected impact of Grand Theft Auto 6, which arrives in November. Significant titles such as Silent Hill: Townfall, Control Resonant and Onimusha: Way of the Sword are scheduled for September, while others, such as Valor Mortis, were moved to October in search of space. Even so, October also proves to be a period of strong competition, with the arrival of games like Modern Warfare 4. The decision to escape the end of 2026 reflects a strategic move by the industry, aware of the market power of titles like Grand Theft Auto. Historically, Rockstar Games releases absorb much of players’ attention and investment for months, making GTA 6’s debut period a significant challenge for any other major game trying to compete directly in sales and visibility.
The CEO further explained that “this new release window strategically positions Lords of the Fallen 2 outside of the highly competitive holiday period, ensuring the game receives the attention it deserves.” He stated that the team remains “fully motivated” by the positive repercussions of the game’s recent revelations, maintaining its focus on delivering an action RPG that stands out and honors the Lords of the Fallen franchise. Tyminski expressed gratitude for the community’s passion, feedback, and continued support, promising to share more news in the coming months.
So far, Lords of the Fallen 2 does not have an exact release date within 2027. The beginning of the year is becoming a period increasingly sought after by games that have postponed their debut in 2026. Fable, for example, recently abandoned its launch plans in 2026 for the same reason of avoiding competition, and the expectation is that other titles will follow the same path.
