Pricing details for $24,950 Slate electric pickup emerge ahead of official June launch date
The sales value of the Slate electric pickup truck, set at US$24,950, was made public in advance of its official presentation, scheduled for June 24th. Initial data indicates that Slate’s long-awaited low-cost electric utility vehicle is expected to be sold at an attractive base price.
Evidence suggests that including sensitive data in a website’s code can result in unwanted revelations, a situation that manufacturer Slate appears to be experiencing. The early release of the news on June 24th occurred after a user investigated the code and shared his findings with the portal The Autopian, in addition to an accidental exposure in Slate’s FAQ area. Now, the initial value of Slate’s full electric pickup truck is known, and it is significantly below the cost of a similar model from Ford.
Supposed failures by Slate’s web development team resulted in the release of the estimated price of US$24,950 for Blank Slate, even before the official announcement date. Even considering an additional cost of approximately US$2,000 for shipping, the Slate vehicle could be up to US$3,000 more affordable than Ford’s electric pickup truck, which costs US$30,000. Ford, in turn, offers its model with a Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) platform, two extra doors, more features and the credibility of a consolidated automaker. The question remains as to whether Slate’s reduced price, simplified design and customization capabilities will be enough to ensure significant sales and competitiveness against the Dearborn giant.

Sensitive information found in the site’s code, as well as data that appeared in FAQs, has been removed by the company. Mix Vale tried to contact Slate Auto, but there was no confirmation of the price of US$24,950, nor additional information about shipping costs, the cost of adapting to the SUV version or other optional accessories. The company maintains the date of June 24th for the official disclosure of values, as indicated on its frequently asked questions page, which has been updated.
Although the leaked value, below US$25,000, is considered speculative until confirmed, it aligns with previous estimates from Slate, which had already indicated a price close to US$25,000 in previous consultations. This price point proves particularly strategic in the current market, as it allows Slate to position its vehicle competitively even after the federal tax credit for electric vehicles ends, a crucial factor that directly impacts the attractiveness of zero-emission models to consumers.
