Sony details immersive Grand Theft Auto VI experience on PlayStation 5 in partnership with Rockstar Games
The long-awaited debut of Grand Theft Auto VI promises a superior experience on PlayStation 5, according to Sony’s announcement. The company highlighted its close collaboration with Rockstar Games and the use of various immersive features offered by the next-generation console.
Through a post on the official PlayStation blog, Sony provided more information about how the new game in the GTA franchise will take advantage of the features of the DualSense controller. This will include the accessory’s advanced haptic feedback and built-in speaker.
Sony Interactive Entertainment stated that, “thanks to the partnership between Sony Interactive Entertainment and Rockstar Games, Grand Theft Auto VI will perform at its best on the PS5 console, leveraging the console’s immersive capabilities to bring a highly engaging single-player experience when it launches on November 19.”
However, there is still no complete clarity on the level of differentiation this experience will bring compared to the Xbox Series X/S version of the game. Apparently, players on Microsoft consoles will not have access to some specific sound effects that are played directly by the controller, a feature highlighted by Sony in its communication.
The developer also drew attention to Tempest 3D AudioTech technology, which will offer players the ability to “immerse themselves in Leonida’s distinctive soundscapes” through highly accurate audio positioning. Additionally, the PlayStation 5’s high-speed SSD will be instrumental in providing near-instant loading times in GTA 6. Once again, Sony chose not to detail the distinctions in relation to the Xbox edition of the game.
A coordinated marketing strategy between Sony and Rockstar is noticeable at this time. To date, no equivalent publication about Grand Theft Auto VI has been released on Xbox Wire, Microsoft’s official blog dedicated to the Xbox brand, which underlines Sony’s intention to position the PlayStation 5 as the definitive platform for the title before any communication from the competition, focusing on exclusive immersive features rather than a raw performance comparison.
Other recent news about Grand Theft Auto VI, revealed last Wednesday (24), includes the confirmation of the game’s price and an Ultimate edition, estimated at US$100. 63 new images of the game were also published, and it was announced that the physical versions of the game will not come with a disc in the box.
