Netherlands player ignores speculation about next World Cup rivals Brazil or Morocco
The world football tournament approaches the decisive phases, with direct clashes between the best classified in the groups from the Netherlands and Brazil. The fight for a place in the round of 16 will pit the leader of one group against the runner-up of the other. Given this scenario, midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, from the Dutch national team, expressed that he did not have any preference for an opponent.
During a press conference this Wednesday, on the eve of the clash with Tunisia, which ends the group stage, the midfielder who plays for Liverpool was very objective. He was answering a question about which team he would like to have as an opponent in the next stage of the championship.
The player stated that the possibility of facing Brazil is real, but emphasized the strength of the teams. He highlighted that, in essence, the choice of opponent in the next stage of the competition is not a relevant factor for his team. This stance reflects the mentality of focusing on one’s own performance, regardless of the opponent.
With the current situation of the group, the Netherlands leads their group, with a better goal difference than Japan, and would face Morocco. Brazil, who occupy first place in group C after a convincing 3-0 victory over Scotland, would have Japan as their immediate opponents.
The Dutch team, known as the Clockwork Orange, is scheduled to play Tunisia, with no chance of qualifying, this Thursday. The game will take place at 8 pm (Brasília time) at Kansas City Stadium. Simultaneously, Japan will take the field against Sweden, in Dallas.
