Rescue teams intensify search for two children trapped under rubble after collapse on Ilha do Governador, Rio de Janeiro
Military personnel from the Rio de Janeiro Fire Department responded to an emergency call this Thursday morning (25), regarding the collapse of a residential structure in the Praia da Rosa Community, located in the Tauá neighborhood, Ilha do Governador, in the North Zone of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
Two people were removed from the wreckage by rescue teams, appearing unharmed and in good health, according to the most recent information released. However, the search continues with reports indicating the presence of two children still trapped under the collapsed material, which intensifies the teams’ work due to the complexity inherent to rescues in structural collapse scenarios.
To reinforce the operation at the accident site, several specialized groups were mobilized, including military personnel from the 19th Military Firefighter Group (GBM) of Ilha do Governador, the Special Operations Group (GOE) and the Search and Rescue Group with Dogs. Everyone works with the support of specific vehicles and equipment for this type of incident.
