Real Madrid plans to leave Camavinga to reconfigure midfield, but player refuses to leave the club
Midfielder Eduardo Camavinga maintains his firm decision to remain at Real Madrid, despite the Spanish club’s plans to trade him to make room and balance the squad. The French player has already informed his representatives that he has no interest in evaluating transfer proposals this summer, creating an impasse with the Santiago Bernabéu board.
This stance goes against Real Madrid’s intentions, which see Camavinga’s departure as a strategic priority. The arrival of new coach José Mourinho reinforced the intention of forming the midfield with Fede Valverde, Aurélien Tchouaméni and Bernardo Silva, players considered untouchable by the coach due to their physical characteristics, aggressiveness and ability to give balance to the team.
The club’s assessment after the match against Bayern Munich
At Valdebebas, Camavinga’s performance in the Champions League, specifically against Bayern Munich, was one of the points of analysis that concerned the club. Although Slavko Vincić’s expulsion was considered strict, the board believes the incident exposed the player’s ongoing issues. Camavinga entered the second half, received an avoidable yellow card and was sent off, adding yet another error to the list that the club began to consider inconsistent for an athlete expected to lead the Merengue midfield.
Concern about Camavinga’s development has been going on for months behind the scenes at Real Madrid. The club has been monitoring the athlete’s progress since his arrival from Rennes in 2021 and the internal conclusion is that he was unable to make the expected leap in quality. There is growing skepticism over whether the Frenchman will reach the level projected when he arrived at the Bernabéu as one of European football’s greatest prospects.
For all these reasons, the French player has become the main candidate to be traded in this summer’s transfer window. In addition to the technical decision, there is a strong financial component, as Real Madrid seeks to generate revenue to continue investing in new reinforcements. Camavinga enjoys a solid reputation in the Premier League, and the club would be willing to trade him for amounts in excess of €50 million. However, the biggest obstacle remains the will of the player himself, who has a contract until 2029 and is determined to fulfill his contract. A transfer, therefore, would depend on a change in the athlete’s attitude, something that, for now, does not seem imminent.
