The Chilean government launched the first national call for the 2026 Subsidio DS1 program. The initiative aims to support middle-class families looking to acquire or build a residence, with the application period extending until 4pm on June 30, benefiting households without existing properties.

The main purpose of the project is to strengthen housing security across the country. To join, interested parties must follow a detailed procedure and meet the strict eligibility requirements defined by the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism, reinforcing the government’s commitment to facilitating access to housing.

To apply, individuals must be at least 18 years of age, present a valid identity card and be duly registered in the Cadastro Social de Lares (Registro Social de Hogares). It is equally crucial that they prove they have the financial capacity to invest.

Participants must have made deposits into their respective savings accounts, ensuring that these amounts are accessible until May 29, 2026. In this way, the program ensures that applicants have a firm economic basis for housing financing.

Qualification criteria for the DS1 program

Eligibility requires applicants to maintain an active savings account for at least 12 months. The minimum amounts required vary depending on the type of project and the benefit range selected by applicants.

For example, purchasing a house in Tramo 1 requires an amount of 30 Unidos de Fomento (UF), which is equivalent to around 1,220,000 Chilean pesos. For construction projects included in Section 3, the minimum deposit required is 50 UF, approximately 2,031,000 Chilean pesos.

A simplifying feature of this subsidy is the exemption from the mortgage pre-approval certificate, which significantly speeds up the process compared to previous procedures and makes it more accessible. Additionally, the Ministry offers digital platforms to facilitate submissions, ensuring a hassle-free experience for all applicants.

Procedure to apply for housing benefit

Applications via the internet will remain accessible until June 30, 2026. Applicants who participated in the second cycle of 2025 and were not selected will have their registration carried out automatically from June 16, as long as they maintain the previously required requirements.

The DS1 Subsidy program covers both the individual purchase of properties and the enabling of collaborative construction on owned land.
