The plane, which was registered in Germany, crashed close to the runway at Nancy-Essey airport. The area is neighboring a residential area and two important highways, as reported by an AFP journalist.

The causes that led to the aircraft crash have not yet been clarified. Medical assistance and psychological support teams were mobilized to provide assistance to the families of the victims present at the airport and to witnesses of the incident.

New information emerges about plane crash in France

In a statement given to BFMTV, Thierry Pechey, president of the Council of the Order of Liberal Nurses of Meurthe-et-Moselle, indicated that, according to the evidence, the deceased were liberal nurses.

Pechey explained that the group was participating in a parachuting baptism flight, scheduled for the same Sunday. He added that the contingent was made up of half nurses and half instructors.

The regional mayor, Yves Séguy, present at the scene of the disaster, used social media to inform about the activation of the Departmental Operational Center (COD). The measure aims to coordinate all emergency services and monitor the situation in real time.

Séguy, also in an interview with BFMTV, mentioned that the aircraft apparently suffered damage before its almost vertical descent. The accident occurred in an urbanized location, close to a shopping center. “By just a few meters, the tragedy could have resulted in more victims,” said the mayor.

Police forces asked the population to avoid the airport area and Salvador Allende Street, adjacent to the accident site. The objective was to guarantee the free movement of rescue and security teams. Authorities, communicating via social media, instructed people not to go to the location of the accident.
