Tokyo will witness the official launch of “JILBY”, an innovative cleaning robot developed by Japanese company Iris Ohyama, specifically designed to meet the needs of corporate customers. The equipment is scheduled to debut on Wednesday, June 28th, at 6:00 am, Japan Standard Time (JST).

The name JILBY is a carefully thought out acronym, derived from the union of the English words “Job” (job), “Intelligence” (intelligence), “Labor” (work), “Bot” (robot) and “Your Side” (by your side). Its development directly incorporated feedback from potential corporate users. This resulted in a design that favors silent operation, high cleaning performance and extremely intuitive controls, facilitated by large screens and buttons. Furthermore, robot management can be done remotely, using tablets and smartphones, which adds flexibility to maintenance teams.

JILBY’s difference lies in its ability to employ artificial intelligence to actively learn from historical cleaning data and the specific layouts of the environments in which it operates. The central purpose of this technology is to significantly improve hygiene operations, suggesting more efficient routes, appropriate frequencies and optimized schedules for each area. The system offers valuable insights, such as detecting “40% more dirt on Fridays compared to other days,” allowing teams to better prepare. It also warns about the need for preventive maintenance, informing, for example, that “less than 30 hours of recommended use of the brush remains”, and thus recommending replacement the following week, ensuring the continued effectiveness of the service and avoiding interruptions.
