Police arrest man suspected of murdering girlfriend with more than a hundred stab wounds in Barbacena, Minas Gerais
A 25-year-old man was arrested and is being investigated for the violent death of his girlfriend in the city of Barbacena, located in the interior of Minas Gerais. The case is being treated as femicide by authorities.
According to information from the Public Ministry, Gustavo Dutra Lima is the main suspect of inflicting more than a hundred stab wounds on Leticia de Morais Vasconcelos Rodrigues, a 40-year-old medical student and mother of two children. The brutality of the crime shocks the local community.

The legal team representing Gustavo Dutra Lima informed that it will not comment on what happened while the investigations are ongoing. The defense remains silent regarding the facts discovered.
After his arrest, the suspect stated that he was with the victim on the night of the crime, but denied any involvement in her death. He chose to remain silent about other aspects of the investigation and refused to provide passwords to electronic devices that were seized by police.
According to investigation data, Gustavo Dutra Lima fled the scene of the murder and was captured in the act on the morning of Sunday, June 28, in the city of Bom Jardim de Minas, which is approximately 100 kilometers from Barbacena.
At the time of his arrest, the agents found several objects belonging to the victim on him, including his cell phone, a tablet, bank cards, personal documents and her car key, which further raised suspicions.
The police were called on the night of Saturday, June 27, after Leticia de Morais Vasconcelos Rodrigues, 40, was found lifeless in her apartment, with clear signs of a highly violent crime.
According to reports from friends and family to the corporation, there was distrust towards Gustavo, as the relationship between him and Leticia was marked by conflicts. The statements indicate that the suspect exhibited possessive behavior and made constant threats to the victim.

During the custody hearing, held last Monday, June 29th, the judge of the 2nd Criminal Court and Domestic and Family Violence Against Women in Barbacena confirmed the previous decision of preventive detention, reaffirming the need for her detention.
The Barbacena college where Leticia was a student released a note of condolence on its social networks, deeply regretting the student’s tragic death and expressing solidarity with the family.
