The body of Maxwell Arnaldo Lima dos Santos, a 17-year-old young man, was discovered lifeless in the Manito River, located in the rural area of Marcelândia, approximately 710 kilometers from Cuiabá. The revelation came to light this Wednesday (1st), with the Civil Police indicating that the teenager was the victim of a kidnapping followed by execution, allegedly by members of a criminal organization, and two arrests have already been made.

The teenager had not been seen since the previous Sunday (28), the date on which he left his residence accompanied by two individuals who arrived on an unmarked motorcycle. Witnesses reported that the men requested the young man’s presence outside the house and followed him to a neighboring intersection, only to lose his whereabouts. Relatives confirmed that Maxwell’s telephone device was disconnected and his digital platforms were deactivated.

Throughout the investigative work, the police forces, Civil and Military, found that Maxwell had connections with a criminal faction and faced constant threats. These intimidations, according to the data collected, were motivated by disputes linked to drug trafficking and the theft of a motorcycle, and the young man had already been the target of “salves”, violent reprimands common in the criminal underworld.

On Tuesday (30), police teams managed to find the motorcycle that would have been used in the teenager’s abduction. During the search operation, two suspects, one aged 18 and the other aged 20, tried to escape and took shelter in a kitnet. However, they were surrounded and detained. Police also reported that one of the individuals tried to disable his cell phone to delete evidence.

The police investigation indicates that Maxwell was lured to a house close to his own home, where he was dominated and forced into a car by members of the criminal group. He was later transported to a dense forest region, adjacent to the Manito River, approximately 20 kilometers from the central area of Marcellândia.

As the searches continued, law enforcement agents identified the exact point where the teenager was allegedly murdered. The Official Expertise and Technical Identification (Politec) carried out analyzes that confirmed the existence of traces of human blood at the site. With the help of boats, rescue teams were able to locate the victim’s body floating in the river, and the identification was confirmed by family members.

The Civil Police continues to lead the investigations to determine the details of the crime and identify and arrest all other participants involved.
