Ubisoft explains the cost of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced DLCs above the value of the game

Ubisoft offered a clarification on the pricing strategy for additional content (DLCs) for `Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced`, released on the market this Friday, July 10, 2026. Even though it is a title focused on a single player, the remastered version of the famous pirate action game arrived with expansions that, together, cost more than the game itself, generating dissatisfaction among part of the gaming community and demanding an official statement from the developer.

`Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced`, which is a reimagining of `Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag`, is available for purchase for `US$ 60` in its basic version. However, the total cost of all paid extra content packages reaches the figure of `US$85`.

This additional content includes four sets of skins for the characters and their ships, such as the “Hellfire”, “Master Assassin”, “Sea Serpent” and “Dragonstorm” packs, each retailing for $10. Additionally, a rare collectible map pack, which can be unlocked, costs an additional `$5`.

Although the presence of additional content is a consolidated practice in the `Assassin’s Creed` franchise, the quantity and value established for the launch of this specific title caused dissatisfaction among part of the public. `Ubisoft` reinforced that these DLCs do not represent crucial elements to have an integral and satisfactory experience of the game, seeking to mitigate the perception that the essential content was being “sliced” for separate sale.

In response to a review on the Steam platform, the company stated: “Additional packs are completely optional bonuses for interested players and are not necessary to enjoy or complete the game.” This statement highlights the complementary nature of the items, not as requirements.

`Ubisoft` also ensured that the base edition of the game already offers a complete and satisfactory experience. According to the developer, “All the missions, all the islands, the complete story and the finished world are there, no one took anything from you.”

The release of `Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced` took place on July 9 for the `PC` (available via `Steam`, `EGS` and `Ubisoft Connect`), `PS5`, `Xbox Series X` and `Xbox Series S` platforms. The title received a positive reception from both specialized critics and Steam users, who classified it as “mostly positive”.
