Musical actor Kim Ho-young said “I’m sorry” on his social media on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, after being publicly questioned by actress and singer Ock Joo-hyun. However, the apology message was not directed at Ock Joo-hyun, as many expected, but rather at consumers of cosmetics he promoted, generating even more repercussions about the situation.
The post, made on the same day on his Instagram account, announced that the beauty products he was promoting had sold out. The phrase “I’m sorry, but it’s already sold out” was used to inform followers that additional stock had been urgently arranged.
The post was promotional in nature and included a direct link to the purchase. What caught the most attention was the way the actor combined the “I’m sorry” with the update on the product’s restock, capitalizing on the shortage to drive new sales.
Previously, Ock Joo-hyun had made a public call for Kim Ho-young to speak out and apologize over the so-called “jade carpet controversy.” The actress regretted having withdrawn the case against him, stating that she had never received a satisfactory retraction since the beginning of the episode.
Still as part of his demands, Ock Joo-hyun demanded that the actor publicly clarify whether the term “Okjangpan”, used by him on another occasion, was not aimed at her. At that time, Kim Ho-young justified the expression to Ock Joo-hyun herself, saying that it was a way to promote the flooring business of a friend of her father’s.
Since Ock Joo-hyun’s requests, Kim Ho-young has remained officially silent on the controversy, without issuing any separate statement. On its online platforms, the discussion remains intense, dividing users between those who ask for a justification and an apology, and those who believe that the issue should be closed without a public demonstration.
