The Japanese company CODE Meee, specializing in fragrances, announced on Thursday, July 16, a collaboration with Capcom to present a line of air fresheners inspired by the characters of Street Fighter 6. These are the first three releases from the Gaming Fragrance brand, established by CODE Meee in 2017 with the aim of seeking “new ways to connect fragrances and technology”, and promise to bring the distinct fighting styles of Juri, Ingrid and Ed to the sense of smell of the players. The difference is that this initiative aligns with the industry’s growing search for innovative sensory experiences, expanding immersion in games beyond visual and sound.

The purpose of these aromatizers goes beyond the simple idea of replicating a smell that the character might have. According to information from CODE Meee, the products were developed to “express the gaming sensations and moves exclusive to fighting games.” The central objective is that the environment with the selected fragrance contributes to a greater state of concentration and immersion while players are playing.

Each flavoring has a unique composition, designed to mirror the combat style of the respective character in the game universe:

  • Jury:With a “fruity floral scent”, this fragrance was created to “leave your hit-confirms razor sharp”. Its components include raspberry, passion fruit, violet, blueberry, strawberry and musk.
  • Ingrid:A “woody citrus scent,” it was formulated to “enhance clarity in the build-up and release of hits.” The aromatic combination is grapefruit, “green leaves”, rose, jasmine, cedar, amber and musk.
  • Ed:Also described as a “woody citrus scent”, this version was developed so that the player “can poke without being punished by the smell”. The aromas that compose it are bergamot, clove, peppermint, rosemary, vetiver and amber.

The method of using aromatizers is quite intuitive: the user applies between three and four drops of fragrance oil in a wooden diffuser, which comes with the product inside the packaging, and this is responsible for diffusing the aroma throughout the space. Each bottle costs ¥6,850, which is equivalent to approximately US$42, and is enough for around 30 uses.

Street Fighter 6 director Takayuki Nakayama expressed his support for the new product line in an official statement.
