Fortnite’s new 41.20 update will launch on Thursday, July 16, bringing a wave of new content that includes summer skins for iconic DC characters, the introduction of new sprites with unique abilities, and significant changes to the game’s map. Players can look forward to a renewed experience, with improved mobility items and themed events that promise to shake up the fan community.

Hot Bat Summer Collaboration Brings DC Heroes and Villains

The highlight of this version is the Hot Bat Summer event, a partnership with DC Comics that adds summer-themed versions of Batman, Harley Quinn, Catwoman and Poison Ivy. These new outfits will be available in the Item Shop shortly after the release of update 41.20. In addition to the visuals, the collaboration expands the experience with the inclusion of Ace the Batcão as a sidekick partner, and the arrival of special shoes and other items inspired by the Batman universe. A themed vehicle is also in the previews, with its method of obtaining yet to be confirmed. This strategy of major collaborations is essential for Fortnite to maintain its relevance and attract diverse audiences, consolidating its position as a pop culture hub.

New sprites and significant changes to the map

Version 41.20 also introduces several new Sprites, elements that promise to impact the dynamics of matches. Among them is the enigmatic Batman Sprite, whose detailed abilities have not yet been disclosed, generating great expectation among fans. Other notable additions include:

  • Air Sprite:Grants increased running speed and jump height while equipped, ideal for quick mobility and strategic escapes.
  • Seven Sprite:Allows the team to identify tracks left by opponents during the match, adding a crucial strategic layer to enemy detection.
  • Cube variants:New types of Sprites related to the Cube were also incorporated, indicating possible new mechanics and challenges in the game environment.

These Sprites, in addition to their functionalities, encourage players to explore different play styles and strategies during battles, promoting richer and more varied gameplay.

Mobility items and a new point of interest to explore

To complement the innovations, the popular Bat-Grappler will make its return to the game’s *loot pool*, offering players an agile vertical movement tool and the ability to reopen the glider for quick movement around the map. Additionally, the Batcave was revealed in previews as a new landmark (POI) on the Chapter 7, Season 3 map. This addition not only expands the combat setting, but also serves as an invitation for players to explore an area rich in landmarks and possibly hidden secrets, enriching the exploration experience.

Other partnerships with pop culture icons come to the game

Epic Games continues to invest in high-impact collaborations to keep the Fortnite universe constantly expanding. This update sets the stage for content based on the film “The Odyssey”, with looks for Odysseus and Agamemnon that will be available in the store from July 17th. Before then, the Odyssey Cup, scheduled for July 15, will give players the chance to unlock the Odysseus outfit early. The legendary David Beckham will also receive two exclusive looks, although no date has been set. There is also the expectation of a special emote linked to the new SpongeBob movie and the song “Big Guy”, by artist Ice Spice, reinforcing Fortnite’s ability to remain relevant through different media and artists, from the DC universe to sports and music icons.

Release calendar and special events for players

The community should prepare for update 41.20 maintenance to begin on Tuesday, July 16th, starting at 5am Brasília time. *Matchmaking* will be temporarily disabled 30 minutes early to ensure a seamless transition. All new content, including items and events, will be accessible to players after the servers reopen. For those looking for extra challenges and reward opportunities, the Shiny Hours event is scheduled for Thursday, July 18, with sessions scheduled for 3pm and 10pm, also Brasília time, offering more opportunities for fun.
