São José goalkeeper, 14, dies after car crash in São José dos Campos
A 14-year-old goalkeeper from the youth ranks of São José Esporte Clube died on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, at the Hospital Municipal in São José dos Campos, in São Paulo state. He had been in the intensive care unit since a car accident on the Anel Viário, the city’s ring road. He was the most seriously hurt of four people who were in the same vehicle.
The club confirmed the death in an official statement released on Tuesday night. It said his early departure leaves “immense sadness among teammates,” and it expressed solidarity with his family, friends and everyone who knew him.
Death declared at about 7:30 p.m. after cardiac arrest
Renato Santiago informed that the teenager suffered a cardiac arrest and was resuscitated. After the protocol for confirming brain death, the death was declared at about 7:30 p.m., while family members were at the hospital.
The parents authorized the donation of their son’s organs. The club highlighted the gesture in its statement, which said the decision could help other people.

Car hit a tree on a wet road, injuring four family members

Driver lost control on a curve, military police report
According to the Polícia Militar, or Military Police, the driver of a Honda Civic lost control of the car while taking a curve. The vehicle hit a tree on the median. It was raining and the road was wet. The corporation said the victims could not give statements at the scene because of the seriousness of the crash and the need for urgent care. Officers did not release the driver’s name or his relationship to the victims.
Blood donors gather at São José dos Campos blood bank
After the accident, family and friends organized a mobilization in the goalkeeper’s name. On Monday, people went to the Banco de Sangue de São José dos Campos to donate, and more than 30 people took part. The call was shared on the social media channels of the club’s youth categories and of the Federação Paulista de Futebol (FPF).
On Monday night, relatives and friends gathered in front of the Hospital Municipal to pray for his recovery. The teenager’s brother thanked the support, saying “it’s incredible what everyone is doing for us.” He added that the family had “made a very big wave of prayer.”

São José players carry banner before Corinthians match
Before the Sub-17 match against Corinthians on Tuesday afternoon, São José players walked onto the field holding a banner that wished strength to the goalkeeper. He started playing football at age four at a school in Jacareí and joined the club’s youth categories in 2025. He played for the Sub-15 team, known as Meninos da Águia, or Eagle Boys, and took part in 12 matches of the 2026 Paulista Sub-14 and one of the Paulista Sub-15, according to the FPF.
Funeral details remain unannounced
No confirmed information has been released about the wake or the burial. The authorities also did not say which organs were donated or how many people will receive them. The Polícia Civil will look into the circumstances of the collision.
