Nintendo Switch players who were waiting for the release of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse were surprised by positive news from Konami. Previously, the company had informed that the version for the Nintendo console would only arrive in 2026, while other platforms would receive the title on October 15 of the same year.

The change was confirmed by the official Japanese account for Castlevania on Platform

The title Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse was presented to the public during the State of Play event in February 2026. This is the first new game in the franchise in more than a decade, since the release of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 in 2014. Fans were eagerly awaiting a new chapter, especially considering the recent resurgence of the Metroidvania genre, driven by hits such as Hollow Knight (2017) and MIO: Memories in Orbit. The arrival of Belmont’s Curse, therefore, occurs at a strategic moment for the category.

The development of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is in charge of Evil Empire, known for Dead Cells and The Rogue Prince of Persia, with the supervision of Motion Twin, also creator of Dead Cells. These studios’ experience in the Metroidvania genre, especially with the acclaimed Dead Cells, suggests that the franchise is in good hands. The announcement trailer already indicated a return to the 2D style of platform and action, referring to the series’ classics, such as Symphony of the Night and the Game Boy Advance games.

The narrative of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse takes place twenty years after the events of Castlevania 3: Dracula’s Curse. The protagonist is Rose Belmont, daughter of the character Trevor Belmont, who embarks on a journey to protect medieval Paris from a demonic invasion. She will wield the iconic “Vampire Killer”, the whip that is a symbol of the Castlevania franchise.

The release of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is scheduled for October 15, 2026, and will be available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X/S.
