Pernambuco driver Rafael Câmara had a dominant performance last Sunday, July 19, 2026, in the Spa-Francorchamps stage of Formula 2, achieving pole position, victory and the best lap. The performance on the traditional and challenging Belgian circuit demonstrated his ability to manage pressure. Starting from first position, Câmara faced intense resistance from Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak, Nikola Tsolov and Noel Leon. He managed to maintain the lead despite several interruptions, including the introduction of the safety car and a red flag that reconfigured the teams’ strategies.
The strategic choice of making the pit stop exactly during the race interruption was a crucial factor in the final result. Although the decision generated uncertainty at the time, the competitor from Pernambuco managed to reverse the situation, regaining the advantage in the decisive moments and crossing the finish line in first place.
After the exciting race, Rafael Câmara expressed his satisfaction with his performance. “It was a very positive Sunday. The team did everything in the best possible way and we managed to make the right decisions in the most important moments of the race”, said the young driver.
This triumph at Spa marked the fifth victory in Rafael Câmara’s career at the Belgian race track, a remarkable feat that spans his participations in all basic single-seater categories. In addition to victory in Sunday’s main race, the driver had already secured a sixth place in the Sprint Race, held the previous Saturday.
Thanks to this solid performance, the Brazilian driver accumulated a total of 125 points in the Formula 2 general classification. The impressive result was essential in closing the gap in relation to the top two in the championship, solidifying Câmara’s third position in the table and intensifying his fight for the current season’s title.
