Samsung launches Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra with anti-glare screen and minimized crease

Samsung revealed, this Wednesday, July 22, 2026, its latest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, during the Galaxy Unpacked event. The new devices arrive with significant screen improvements, including an innovative anti-glare finish and a redesigned hinge that promises to drastically reduce the central crease. These new features respond to long-standing consumer requests and aim to improve the visual experience and durability of the devices.

Anti-reflective finish on the internal screen of the new foldables

One of the most praised and awaited new features is the inclusion of an anti-reflective coating on the internal screen, a feature already present and much appreciated in models such as the Galaxy S26 Ultra. This addition considerably improves visual comfort in environments with lots of light, providing clearer reading and fewer distractions for users. Unfortunately, the external screen did not receive the same treatment, a decision that may be linked to cost cutting and which, it is hoped, will be corrected in future generations.

Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen brightness and technology

The new foldables come equipped with Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels, capable of reaching a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. This number represents an increase of 15% compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, consolidating the screen as the brightest ever seen on a Samsung cell phone. Although not as extreme as some competitors, the improvement is noticeable and contributes to more vivid and detailed viewing in various lighting conditions.

Flex Titanium hinge enhancements for fewer creases

Another important advancement lies in the new Flex Titanium hinge. The technology now employs a combination of titanium alloy film and plate to ensure the internal panel exhibits a noticeably flatter appearance, with barely noticeable creases. This improvement puts the design of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra at a level close to market references, such as the OPPO Find N6, recognized for its superior hinge.

Innovative processor, battery and operating system

In addition to the visual improvements, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 family integrates the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, optimized for Samsung devices. The battery also received special attention, with the introduction of larger cells that use silicon-carbon technology, a first for the brand’s smartphones. In the software field, the devices arrive with Android 17 and the new One UI 9.0 interface, promising a fluid and feature-rich user experience.

Availability and initial prices of new foldables

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra are now available for pre-order in some international markets. Launch prices start at €2,099 for the Fold 8, which is equivalent to approximately R$12,100 at the current price. The Z Fold 8 Ultra model has a starting price of €2,299, around R$13,300. So far, Samsung has not released official values ​​or the launch date for the Brazilian market.
