Sean Combs, known as Diddy, was placed in solitary confinement at Fort Dix Prison in New Jersey after being involved in a confrontation with another inmate at the prison unit.

Reports indicate that a cellmate at the minimum security federal institution provoked Combs, who allegedly reacted violently. The two allegedly exchanged pushes and attacks before prison guards intervened to separate them. After the fight, the founder of Bad Boy was transferred to solitary confinement, and there is no information about punishment for the other inmate involved.

When contacted to comment on what happened, a representative for Sean Combs stated that he “could not confirm this [news] at the moment.”

A Fort Dix spokesperson preferred not to comment on the matter. The prison representative stated, “We are not permitted to disclose or provide inside information regarding any inmate in our custody. Such information would not be made available to the public.”

Combs is currently serving a 50-month sentence after being convicted of transportation for the purpose of prostitution in July of last year. His conviction followed an eight-week federal criminal trial in New York, where he was acquitted of the most serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. Sean Combs’ legal history adds relevant context to his current situation, as his behavior during the trial has been widely discussed.

The 56-year-old businessman’s explosive temperament and inclination towards physical violence were striking elements during his trial. Combs faced accusations of routinely assaulting his ex-girlfriend, singer Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, over the course of a decade-long relationship that ended in 2018. Former employees also alleged they were victims of violence by their former boss.

Combs is scheduled to be released in February 2028, according to official data from prison authorities.

This wouldn’t be Combs’ first troubled episode in prison. Previous reports indicated alleged offenses in November, including possession of craft alcohol and attempting to make a prohibited telephone call. However, his team vehemently denied all these allegations at the time.
