R&B singer Nivea revealed she is facing a battle with leukemia, news that sparked an outpouring of support and prayers from her fans on July 23, 2026. The artist is 44 years old and shared that the experience helped her rethink her life.

The singer shared the information during an appearance on the interview program “Cadillac Chronicles”, when responding about the reasons for her gratitude in the current period.

“I was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year, and I am very grateful to God,” said Nivea. She added that she is undergoing treatment and that “everything is going great so far. And I hope it continues. Amen. Amen. Amen. And I’m very grateful for life. It’s so cliché to say that you don’t know the time or the day, and it’s true.”

The singer also said that the illness “helped me put a lot of things into perspective.” She emphasized living in “gratitude as a lifestyle” and expressed that she is doing what she truly wants to do as well as having returned to her music career.

Nivea mentioned that she has dedicated herself to studying audio engineering, a new front in her professional life.

“I always wanted to learn how to do sound engineering, mixing and especially audio engineering”, he revealed. “But in general, just doing all the things, honey. Loving all my kids and being grateful. Taking advantage of every opportunity that comes along.”

At another point, she was asked what one of the biggest lessons learned on her journey would be.

“Definitely don’t take anything for granted,” he said. “I was born in my younger years. The days just flew by, and I was just doing what I was doing. It’s like you don’t recognize how little time we have here, and how everything is… I’ve always noticed the beauty in everything, though, I have to say. But, being more present in the moment is definitely something I’ve learned. This time will never happen again. Being more present in the moment. Counting your blessings. Being more grateful.”

She went on to state that “the universe or God, or whatever you want to call it, your brain will find the things you focus on.” “You know where the mind goes, energy goes. So I just try to think about positive things. I’m a very optimistic person,” he concluded.

Nivea B. Hamilton, the singer’s full name, rose to prominence on the music scene in the early 2000s. Her song “Don’t Mess with My Man” received a nomination in the Best R&B Performance category at the 2003 Grammy Awards.

Throughout her career, she has released four albums, including her self-titled in 2002 and “Mirrors”, her most recent work, in 2019.
