The release of Grand Theft Auto 6 has a final date: November 19, 2026. The confirmation was made by Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, who included the information in a corporate governance statement. He expressed high confidence, indicating that the chances of a further postponement of the highly anticipated game are slim.

Rockstar Games, developer of the title, had originally announced GTA 6 for 2025, confirming this prediction in the reveal trailer, in December 2023. Approximately eighteen months later, the game was postponed to May 26, 2026, and six months later, again postponed to the current date of November 19, 2026. At the time, the company justified that it needed more time to guarantee the quality and refinement expected by fans of your AAA games.

Company confidence on the current date

Despite previous delays, Take-Two’s latest communications reinforce the company’s confidence in the release schedule for Grand Theft Auto 6. One of the most recent assurances came in Zelnick’s letter to shareholders, inserted in a preliminary proxy statement filed on July 17, 2026. The CEO wrote that fiscal year 2027, beginning in the second quarter of 2026, could represent a “major inflection point” for the company. This scenario is driven, in large part, by the arrival of GTA 6 on November 19, a date that is in the middle of the fiscal year and promises to boost Take-Two’s net reserves, making 2027 the best fiscal year in the company’s history.

Since January 2026, Strauss Zelnick has consistently assured analysts, journalists and shareholders that Grand Theft Auto 6 will go ahead as planned for November 19th. The inclusion of the date in an official governance document, intended for investors, serves as one of the strongest signs that the project, the company’s most ambitious and costly, is progressing without major setbacks. The community of fans and industry observers have been following closely, questioning with each postponement whether the new date would be definitive.

Grand Theft Auto 6 financial predictions

Estimates from market analysts suggest that Grand Theft Auto 6 could generate up to US$5 billion in just its first week of release. More cautious forecasts point to revenue of approximately US$3.25 billion in the same period. In comparison, Grand Theft Auto 5 grossed $1.7 billion in its first twelve months and took about four years to reach the $5 billion sales mark. GTA 5’s success was significantly boosted by revenue from GTA Online, which was released a few weeks after the main game in October 2013.

The launch strategy should be similar for the new title, with Rockstar having already confirmed that the debut of Grand Theft Auto 6, on November 19, will first be in the single player version. The next-gen version of GTA Online is expected to be officially revealed closer to the launch of the main game and will likely hit platforms a few weeks after the individual campaign, replicating the initial model adopted by Grand Theft Auto 5.
