Trial of accused for threatening Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor takes place in December
A man will face court proceedings in December after being accused of threatening Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor near his home on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
Alex Jenkinson, 39, is alleged to have made the former Duke of York “fear unlawful violence” during an incident that occurred while Andrew was walking his dogs on May 6.
The court hearing, scheduled to begin on December 21, is expected to feature testimony from Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor via videoconference.
Jenkinson is accused of employing threatening, abusive or offensive language or behavior. The case, which was initially scheduled for a recent date, was adjourned at Westminster Magistrates’ Court by Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring due to concerns for the defendant’s mental health.
Accused of threatening Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor claims innocence
Jenkinson, who was not present at the recent court session, pleaded not guilty to a charge of public nuisance against Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. He also denies a further charge of using threatening, abusive or offensive words or behavior with the aim of causing fear or inciting unlawful violence against Stephen Terry a day earlier in King’s Lynn.
The defendant is currently on probation, banned from going near Sandringham, Buckingham Palace, Balmoral, Windsor or Highgrove.
Furthermore, Jenkinson cannot attempt contact, whether direct or indirect, with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, nor approach him or enter the county of Norfolk.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has resided at Marsh Farm since leaving Royal Lodge in Windsor. The change occurred due to his known association with the now deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a context that led him to step away from his former responsibilities.
At the end of last year, he had his rights as prince and his dukedom withdrawn by the King, also due to his ties to Epstein.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has always denied any misconduct related to these allegations.
