Vini Jr.’s future at Real Madrid has taken on new contours on the European football scene. According to Pedja Mijatovic, historic figure of the Spanish club and scorer of the winning goal in the 1998 Champions League, the Brazilian striker would have refused the first renewal offer presented by the Merengue board.
This information was released during Mijatovic’s participation in the program El Larguero, on Spanish radio station Cadena SER, and intensified discussions about the number 7’s possible departure at the end of the season.
According to Mijatovic’s assessment, the player’s attitude indicates that he may be interested in analyzing other proposals before making a definitive decision about his professional future.
Statement by Real Madrid idol questions Vini Jr’s stay
During the interview, the former striker commented that Vini Jr.’s stance draws attention due to the current stage of the negotiations. Although the Brazilian’s contract is valid until June 2027, Real Madrid is seeking an extension to prevent the contract from coming to an end without a new agreement, which would protect the player’s market value in future transactions.
For Mijatovic, the refusal of the proposal reinforces the perception that the striker is still not fully convinced of his stay in the Spanish team.
In the former player’s analysis, Vini Jr. is going through a moment of great visibility, with interest from important clubs in Europe, and therefore he may prefer to hear other proposals before making his final decision.
Among the teams mentioned by Mijatovic, Arsenal appears as a possible destination. He stated that the English team is closely monitoring the Brazilian’s situation and would be prepared to make a significant investment if the negotiation opportunity arises.
The former striker suggested that the London club could present a million-dollar offer to persuade both Vini Jr. and Real Madrid. Furthermore, he believes that this scenario could favor the Spanish team, which, if the player does not show interest in renewing, could consider a sale to prevent the athlete from losing market value as the contract ends.
Although the striker’s contract is valid until mid-2027, Real Madrid has a practice of bringing forward the renewals of its main players.
For this reason, a possible delay in negotiations could intensify speculation about a possible transfer in the next market windows.
As of August 5, 2026, neither the Spanish club nor Vini Jr.’s advisors have officially commented on Pedja Mijatovic’s statements or a possible refusal of the contract renewal proposal.
