Kit Connor chosen to play Cyclops in Marvel Studios’ new X-Men film
New information released indicates that Marvel Studios has found the actor to play Scott Summers, Cyclops, in the next X-Men film. Sources told Deadline that Kit Connor is the choice for the role of the famous mutant.
The casting process included several meetings with candidates, led by director Jake Schreier and Marvel president Kevin Feige. The studio optioned Connor last week, making him the latest actor to take on the role of Cyclops.

So far, neither Marvel nor Kit Connor’s representatives have commented on the actor’s casting for the character.

While Hollywood’s interest was focused on choosing the new James Bond during this period, the selection process for the team of mutants has been one of the most active. After months of meetings and auditions, a select group of actors held final auditions after the Fourth of July holiday.

The news about Connor’s casting should excite fans of the franchise, who have been waiting for a new X-Men film since Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox and its catalog in 2019. The X-Men universe represented one of Marvel’s most popular and profitable intellectual properties controlled by Fox, generating seven main films and a successful Wolverine spin-off franchise, which yielded three more productions.
Development on the new project gained momentum last spring when Jake Schreier was tapped to direct, followed by the hiring of “Beef” creator Lee Sung Jin and “The Bear” co-creator Joanna Calo to write the script.

Kit Connor’s star has risen considerably since his breakout role in the Netflix series “Heartstopper,” which he recently reprized in the spinoff film “Heartstopper Forever.” His performance caught the attention of director Alex Garland, who cast him in A24’s war film “Warfare” as well as the soon-to-be-released video game adaptation “Elden Ring.”
