Paris Saint-Germain confirmed the signing of Lucas Digne, a defender who played for France in the most recent World Cup. The left-back, who spent the last five seasons playing for Aston Villa, joins the two-time Champions League champion team for a fee of 7 million euros, the equivalent of R$41 million, in a deal announced on August 9, 2026.
At 33 years old, the athlete signed a contract valid for three seasons, scheduled to last until June 2029. For the Parisian club, this acquisition represents a reunion, as Digne, trained in Lille’s youth categories, had already worn the shirt of the French capital’s team between 2013 and 2015, before being loaned to Roma, in Italy.

Digne’s journey through European football included a spell at Barcelona, which signed him in 2016 for a fee of 16.5 million euros, which at the time represented approximately R$60 million.
The versatile defender, with the ability to also play as a defender, has been in English football since 2018, during which time he played for Everton and, from 2021, he wore the Aston Villa shirt.
Representing France, Digne received his first call-up in 2014, under the command of coach Didier Deschamps. He accumulated a total of 63 appearances for the national team, without scoring a single goal.
In the last edition of the World Cup, which marked the player’s debut in the tournament, he participated as a starter in all six matches played by the French team.
