Microsoft’s gaming division has begun celebrating a quarter-century of history with a flood of new content, fan art and an expanded schedule for its global tour. Although the official founding date of the original console dates back to November 15, 2001, the technology giant brought forward the festivities to engage the community with several surprises.

The result of a partnership with digital artists Klobrille and Ben Kenobi, the platform released an unprecedented aesthetic package that includes avatars, wallpapers and an animated background for the system interface. All this customized material is already available for immediate download on current generation devices.

To immortalize the historic brand, users who log into their profiles — whether via video game, computer or cell phone application — will be rewarded with an exclusive commemorative stamp. This digital badge will be available for ongoing redemption until the final days of 2026.

The company’s subscription service also got into the festive spirit with the creation of curated catalogs that pay homage to each era of hardware. Game Pass subscribers can revisit fundamental works of the industry, such as “Fable Anniversary”, “Halo: The Master Chief Collection”, “Fallout 4” and “Psychonauts 2”, both on desktop consoles and computers.

Expanded global tour marks Microsoft celebrations

The kickoff of the in-person FanFest 2026 journey took place in the city of Los Angeles, during the Xbox Games Showcase announcement showcase, on June 7. Now, the brand’s caravan is preparing to cross continents, bringing testing stations and direct interactions to audiences in different countries.

The travel schedule confirmed strategic stops in Cologne (Germany) on August 26th, Tokyo (Japan) on September 17th, London (United Kingdom) on September 26th, in addition to simultaneous events in Mexico City (Mexico) and Sydney (Australia) on October 17th. The international route ends in Toronto (Canada) on November 6th, with only details remaining for the Seattle edition, the company’s birthplace, to be confirmed.

Singer Addison Rae lands in the Epic Games battle royale universe

Epic Games’ acclaimed survival title has confirmed the arrival of pop star Addison Rae to the coveted Icon series, set to debut on August 6. The artist’s inclusion reinforces the studio’s strategy of transforming the virtual environment into a true metaverse of contemporary pop culture.

The main cosmetic set features the celebrity’s standard attire, highlighting the pink costume used in the “Fame is a Gun” music video, complemented by interactive sunglasses. Players will also have access to the Famous Addison Rae variant, which reproduces her concert outfits through the alternative styles of White, Fame Brite (mix of pink and yellow) and Soda Black.

The influencer’s presence extends to the musical mechanics of the title, introducing tracks and dances based on the hits “Diet Pepsi” and “fame is a Gun”. The package in the online store is completed by themed accessories, such as the Turtle on the Moon and Addison’s Ice Cream backpacks, along with the Scepter of Fame and Addison’s Number One Fan collection tools.

Million-dollar competition encourages the creation of personalized maps

In a move to strengthen its modding community, KRAFTON, Inc., in conjunction with the CurseForge platform, revealed a content development tournament with a total prize pool set at US$95,000. The promotional action serves as a warm-up for the arrival of the long-awaited PUBG: Playgrounds mode, with registrations scheduled to begin on August 12th.

Talents from the community will be able to submit their new projects divided into three main fronts: combat mechanics, survival scenarios and creative experimentation. At the end of the competition, thirty modifications will be selected to officially integrate the game’s ecosystem, ensuring global visibility for amateur programmers.

The financial distribution will allocate US$25,000 to each creative pillar, guaranteeing US$10,000 to the grand champion and bonuses for the top 10 of each bracket. During the course of the event, ten participants will receive a surprise incentive of US$500, while six projects elected by popular vote will pocket US$2,500 each.

The official calendar establishes that project submissions will take place between August 12th and September 2nd. Soon after, the public will have from the 6th to the 9th of September to choose their favorites, culminating in the announcement of the big winners on September 14th.

The upcoming PUBG: Playgrounds will function as an entertainment center built into the shooter title’s main menu. This new interface promises to revolutionize the way users access and experience modifications generated by the fan base itself, creating a permanent environment for creativity.

In this new stage, protagonist Dalia gains access to new scenarios, improved tools and extra capabilities while trying to locate her former romantic partner, Maeve. The plot delves into the mysteries of immortality, placing the fate of the entire human race in the hands of the determined scientist.

Crisis in the sector makes independent market giant rethink public capital

Devolver Digital, one of the most prestigious distributors of indie games in the world, confirmed that it intends to go public on the stock exchange in 2026. The drastic change of route reflects the moment of financial correction that haunts the post-pandemic technology industry.

A document sent to shareholders on August 6 formalized the board’s desire to abandon the UK-based AIM index. The company’s future will be decided at a general meeting scheduled for September 8th, and, if the proposal is approved, the transition to the private model will take place on the 16th of the same month.

The brand’s executives explained that the chronic instability of the digital entertainment sector made the pressure for constant growth demanded by institutional investors unsustainable. Furthermore, the company’s leadership argues that the current value of the shares does not reflect the distributor’s real strength and catalog.

Devolver’s public trajectory began with great optimism in November 2021, when the IPO valued the business at £694.6 million (around $950 million at the time). Since that peak, shares have plummeted an impressive 96.27%, shrinking the corporation’s market value to a modest £34.64 million (approximately US$46.63 million).
