The 18-year-old Austrian defender did not achieve the minimum score to acquire a work license in the United Kingdom, which prohibits him from representing the team in official matches during 2026.

This obstacle is due to the new rules implemented for international athletes in English football, a direct result of Brexit. The United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union significantly changed the regulations for signing European players to clubs in the country.
To be able to officially play in British football, Ifeanyi Ndukwe needs a Governing Body Endorsement, known as GBE. This authorization is issued according to a scoring system based on sporting merits, but the Austrian athlete has not yet reached the required index.
An alternative exists for players who do not meet the standard requirements, called Elite Significant Contribution, or ESC, slots. They allow clubs to register foreign athletes who do not yet have the minimum score for a work license.
