French player Yael Trepy, who plays for Cagliari, is admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in Sassari, Sardinia, Italy. The 20-year-old athlete was hospitalized on August 15, 2026, after a drowning incident in a swimming pool, as reported by the local press.

Information published by the newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport indicates that the incident took place in Porto Cervo. Trepy was quickly transported by helicopter to the Sassari hospital unit, a measure considered essential for his survival.

Through an official statement, Cagliari confirmed the player’s admission to the ICU. However, the club did not provide additional details regarding the cause that led to hospitalization.

Before the incident, on August 14, 2026, Trepy played as a starter in the match in which Cagliari beat Arezzo, valid for the Italian Cup. The French athlete remained on the field for 54 minutes, being substituted in the second half of the game.

Yael Trepy joined Cagliari in 2022, initially to join the club’s youth teams. In January, he played his first match in the Italian Championship, when he scored the goal that secured a 2-2 draw against Cremonese. The young man has, to date, only nine appearances for the main squad.
