England and Bayern Munich star striker Harry Kane expressed his excitement about the possibility of winning the Ballon d’Or due to his impressive performance in the 2025/2026 season. The coveted individual award in world football is scheduled for October 26, in London.

Kane recorded an incredible 73 goals last season, adding to his achievements for both club and country. A number rarely achieved in modern football, which demonstrates the player’s consistency and lethality in various competitions. “I’m extremely proud of the season I had last year,” Kane said.

Prospects for the individual award

Considering the ultimate prize in individual football, the Ballon d’Or represents the pinnacle for any athlete. The English player said that, despite having had an exceptional season, his main focus now turns to the challenges of the new cycle.

He emphasized that the Ballon d’Or result is not under his direct control. “The Ballon d’Or is not in my hands. I did what I could in terms of presentations. Now it depends on votes, other people, the media and things I can’t control. So, let’s see what happens”, explained the center forward.

Despite the uncertainty, Kane revealed that it would be an “incredible” achievement if the award came. He noted, however, that the final decision will be made in a few months, meaning the issue is not his immediate concern at the moment.

Striker’s performance with Bayern and England

In the previous season, Bayern Munich became champions of the Bundesliga and the German Cup, also reaching the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, where they were eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain, the eventual winners of the tournament.

Kane contributed 12 goals for England, including during the World Cup. The national team’s campaign ended in the semifinals after a clash against Argentina.

The history of the Ballon d’Or and English players

The Ballon d’Or has been awarded to English players on six occasions throughout history, a feat that highlights the exclusivity of the recognition. The winners were Stanley Matthews in 1956, Bobby Charlton in 1966, Kevin Keegan in 1978 and 1979, and Michael Owen in 2001.
