Manchester United began talks on August 19, 2026 to acquire Carlos Baleba, a 22-year-old midfielder who currently plays for Brighton. The English team made initial contact seeking details about the young Cameroonian talent.

In the previous season, a similar inquiry for the player took place, but Brighton had set a value of 100 million pounds, equivalent to approximately R$700 million.

However, information indicates that Manchester United believes that Brighton would now be willing to trade Baleba for a reduced price, which has led to a resumption of interest.

Brighton, in turn, expressed openness to releasing the midfielder if the desired amount is reached. Baleba is currently recovering from an ankle injury sustained during the preparation for the season.

Baleba’s arrival would complement United’s recent investment in the sector. The club has already spent 85 million pounds, approximately R$600 million, to bring in two other midfielders: Andrey Santos, coming from Chelsea, and Youri Tielemans, after three years at Aston Villa. This strategy seeks a complete renovation in the team’s midfield.

During his time at Brighton, which began in 2023 after signing from Lille, Baleba played 92 Premier League matches over three seasons.

In addition to the search for a third midfielder, United also showed interest in strengthening the left back, aiming to create healthy competition with starter Luke Shaw.

The team will make its Premier League debut on August 22, 2026, facing Hull City in the first round of the championship.
