Xiaomi has introduced a new smart bulb that promises to revolutionize the way devices are connected at home, using Bluetooth Mesh technology to unclog the main Wi-Fi network. The Mijia LED Smart Bulb Bluetooth Mesh Edition allows multiple devices to communicate with each other, forming an independent network that eliminates the need for each device to be directly connected to the router.

How Bluetooth Mesh Technology Operates

The central innovation of this lamp lies in the ability to create its own communication mesh, where devices exchange information without depending on a central Wi-Fi point for each command. This architecture is especially advantageous in environments with a large number of smart equipment, where the individual connection of each item to the router can generate overload.

By integrating Bluetooth Mesh, the lamps establish a collaborative network. This way, it is possible to add and control units together, simplifying management and optimizing the distribution of commands.

Overcoming the Challenges of Home Routers

Xiaomi’s proposal addresses a common issue in modern smart homes: the stress on Wi-Fi routers. Although lamps, sensors and other connected devices consume little bandwidth, a large number of simultaneously connected devices can overload the equipment’s management capacity.

A typical home router can generally manage between 15 and 64 devices effectively in practice, although most are capable of assigning IP addresses to up to 253 devices theoretically. Overload does not necessarily affect internet speed, but rather the stability and responsiveness of the local network, impairing communication between the smart devices themselves.

Advantages of Networking for Smart Devices

The main advantage of the Bluetooth Mesh system is the significant reduction in the number of devices that need to connect directly to Wi-Fi. This frees up the router’s bandwidth for uses that really depend on high speed, such as video streaming or online gaming, while keeping the smart home running smoothly.

In addition to reducing congestion, Xiaomi highlights that this technology can offer a more stable connection for installations with multiple units. Unlike traditional Wi-Fi lamps, which can suffer from interference or signal loss in environments with many obstacles, the mesh network self-organizes and retransmits the signal, ensuring greater reliability in large spaces.

Multiple control and interaction options

The new lamp can be controlled in different ways, ensuring flexibility for the user. It is possible to connect a smartphone directly to the device via Bluetooth and manage its functions through the Xiaomi Home app, offering quick access to basic lighting settings.

For those looking for more advanced features, integration with a control center compatible with Bluetooth Mesh allows the use of voice commands, setting timers and scheduled lighting activation. This makes it possible to create personalized routines and completely automate the environment.

Lighting features and lamp design

In addition to its smart connectivity, the Mijia LED Smart Bulb offers versatile lighting capabilities. With 500 lumens of brightness, the lamp allows you to adjust the color temperature over a wide range, from 2,700 K to 6,500 K. This flexibility means users can switch between a warmer, more welcoming yellowish light and cooler, energizing white tones.

In practice, this adjustment capacity allows you to adapt the lighting to different times of the day and environments, whether for evening relaxation with warm light or a more focused work environment with cold, bright light.

Technical details and product specifications

The Xiaomi lamp is designed to be compatible with most sockets, using the standard E27 fitting.

  • Standard Fitment: E27
  • Rated power: 4.5W
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.0
  • Dimensions: 60 mm wide by 108.5 mm high
  • Operating temperature: between -10°C and 40°C

The surface that emits the light is made of high refractive index polycarbonate, a material chosen to optimize the distribution of lighting, ensuring that the light is emitted uniformly throughout the environment.

Launch and price on the Chinese market

The Mijia LED Smart Bulb Bluetooth Mesh Edition was first launched in China, where it is being sold for 29.9 yuan. Converting to the current price, this value is equivalent to approximately R$26.

To date, Xiaomi has not released information about the availability of the product in other markets, including Brazil. Consumers in other regions will need to wait for official announcements to find out when the lamp will arrive in international stores.
