Consumers residing in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania should check the labels on recently purchased mangoes. The company Panorama Produce, based in New York, initiated a recall of its products distributed in these regions due to a potential risk of salmonella contamination, as announced on September 1, 2026.

The security measure covers just over 300 boxes of mangoes that were sold in the mentioned states between August 10th and August 21st. Information about the recall was disclosed in a company statement published on the official website of the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration).

To identify affected products, consumers should look for boxes that bear the “Martina” brand. The individual sleeves, in turn, have a light blue sticker that indicates “Agrofepac, Produce of Mexico”, in addition to the numbers PLU 4584 and UPC 07503061948050.

Panorama Produce’s statement also clarifies that the recalled mangoes were sold in “select Walmart stores” in the impacted regions.

Until the recall was announced on September 1, 2026, no occurrence of illnesses related to the consumption of mangoes had been reported to the company or health authorities.

For consumers who suspect they have purchased a contaminated product, the advice is to discard the mangoes immediately or return them to the place of purchase. Questions or concerns can be directed to Panorama Produce through its official communication channels.

Symptoms of a salmonella infection usually appear between six hours and six days after ingesting the bacteria, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The most common signs include diarrhea, fever, vomiting and stomach cramps.

It is essential to seek medical attention if an infection is suspected, especially if the person belongs to more vulnerable groups or if the symptoms worsen, with bloody diarrhea or diarrhea that persists for more than two days, fever above 38.8 degrees Celsius, frequent vomiting that makes it impossible to drink fluids or any sign of dehydration.

More serious complications associated with salmonella can include arterial infections, endocarditis (an infection of the heart), and arthritis. The disease is responsible for approximately 1.35 million cases and 420 deaths annually in the United States, according to FDA data.
