Google announced a series of new features for Android devices, including a Motion Assistant to combat motion sickness and, most importantly, a significant expansion of the Find Hub. From September 1, 2026, the tool will allow users to find important objects without relying on physical trackers. The update represents an advance in the integration of artificial intelligence into everyday life, transforming the way people manage their belongings.

Find important objects with Gemini intelligence

The main innovation is the ability to ask Gemini to memorize the location of valuable items, such as a passport or important documents, which are rarely used and can be forgotten. With the new functionality, users will be able to simply tell Gemini where they stored an object and even add a photo for visual reference. When the item is needed, simply ask the assistant or consult the “Remembered Items” tab in Find Hub, providing an unprecedented layer of security and convenience.

Reducing Motion Sickness with Motion Assist

Among the other new features, Google introduced the Motion Assistant, a feature designed to reduce the discomfort caused by motion sickness in vehicles. The feature works by superimposing points on the device’s screen that follow the car’s movements, helping to stabilize the user’s visual perception. The initiative mirrors Apple’s Motion Cues, showing a move toward similar solutions to common usability challenges.

Guiding vision to make everyday life easier

Guided Vision is another tool that uses the cell phone camera in conjunction with Gemini Live to assist with visual tasks. The feature can be used to read fine print on labels, menus or to locate specific objects, such as an ingredient in the pantry. Additionally, Guided Vision offers voice feedback, guiding the user to align the camera correctly, making it accessible and practical for various situations.

Themes and collaboration in Google Messages and Keep

To enhance the communication experience, Google Messages now offers custom themes. Users can select a background image that will automatically be applied to text bubbles, making conversations more visual and fun. Another improvement is the integration with Google Keep, allowing all participants in a conversation in Google Messages to create and edit notes collaboratively, ideal for shopping lists or travel planning.

Compatibility of new features with Android

Availability of new features varies depending on the operating system version. Find Hub and Gemini features for remembering items will be accessible on devices running Android 16 or higher, in regions where both services are supported. Guided Vision will be available for devices with Android 9 or higher, expanding the reach of the accessibility feature to a larger user base.
