Xiaomi is engineering the Xiaomi 18 Fold with a broader form factor in China to compete directly against the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Recent industry leaks detail the primary engineering characteristics planned for the future mobile device. Preliminary technical sheets indicate that both panels support a peak luminance capability of 4,000 nits.

To overcome the traditional visual limitations of expansive flexible displays, the upcoming handset adopts a complete full RGB pixel matrix designed to preserve image clarity and accurate color fidelity across the entire internal folding surface.

The peak luminance of 4,000 nits operates exclusively within a zone limited to 30 percent of the panel. The brightness varies on demand. Xiaomi tailored this elevated lighting profile specifically to maintain screen readability when users view content under intense direct sunlight.

The Chinese manufacturer integrates a specialized anti-reflective layer across the inner display to diminish visual distractions inherent to flexible screens. Substantially slim bezels border the panel structure to secure a higher screen-to-body ratio for the mobile device.

Dual glass layers increase drop protection on internal and external screens

The internal flexible panel incorporates a dual Ultra-Thin Glass assembly to elevate overall structural resilience. This double-layer configuration fortifies the most sensitive mechanical section of foldable smartphones against accidental damage. On the outside, the hardware utilizes upgraded Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0 technology. This hardened exterior glass withstands mechanical impacts and prevents scratches resulting from daily abrasive contact.
