Nintendo scheduled the release of Kirby and the World Beyond as a brand-new three-dimensional platforming experience planned for spring 2027.

This project stands as the second full 3D platformer in the history of the series following Kirby and the Forgotten Land. The pink hero steps once again into wide polygonal environments.

The publisher officially revealed Kirby and the World Beyond during its broadcast as the next major journey centered on the titular protagonist.

Nintendo confirmed that the title will land specifically on Nintendo Switch 2 during spring 2027. It targets the next system.

Users navigate across wide environments by unleashing Kirby’s traditional copy abilities against obstacles and adversaries.

The launch forms a central piece of the official 35th Anniversary campaign honoring the Kirby series. Special promotional events accompany the milestone.

Initial footage from the reveal video demonstrates Kirby sprinting across open grassy fields, climbing up tree trunks, and utilizing classic powers inherited from defeated enemies throughout the journey.

The preview showcases the protagonist acquiring a massive sword upgrade that allows him to slice directly into the firmament and pull down pieces of the sky like physical partitions, uncovering an enormous untouched territory stretching far into the distance. This massive realm represents the titular World Beyond.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land debuted on Nintendo Switch in 2022 as the initial fully 3D platforming entry in the entire franchise history.

Contemporary media reception highlighted Kirby and the Forgotten Land as the franchise’s most well rounded adventure to date. Industry criticism recorded: “The platforming won’t give Mario any restless nights, but the exuberant creativity around it makes for a bold, buoyant adventure.”

Nintendo followed that mainline entry by publishing an upgraded edition titled Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World in August 2025.

The revised package incorporated graphical enhancements designed for the newer hardware, jumping from 30 frames per second to 60fps. It also integrated 12 new stages.

Review evaluations endorsed the updated edition with direct praise: “Kirby and the Forgotten Land was already a fantastic game, and this new upgrade is worth the $20 asking price.”

Assessment commentary underscored the technical improvements: “The increase in resolution and switch to 60fps make it look and feel far more polished than before, and while the 12 new stages are essentially little more than an expansion pack, in this case more of the same thing isn’t a negative.” The enhanced release closed out Nintendo’s prior rollout.
