Nintendo announced its upcoming release schedule for the second half of 2026 and 2027 during a Nintendo Direct broadcast on September 9, 2026. The presentation confirmed Metroid Ravenous as the next 2D adventure featuring Samus Aran, scheduling the title for January 28, 2027.

The newly revealed game marks a return to traditional side-scrolling mechanics following Metroid Dread. A gameplay preview outlined environments that players will navigate when the project arrives on January 28, 2027. Developers showcased responsive traversal systems for the heroine.

Role playing games Persona 4 Revival and Persona 6 secure platform arrivals

Publishers confirmed that Persona 4 Revival will launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on February 18, 2027, whereas Nintendo Switch 2 users must wait until May 20, 2027, alongside the formal commitment that Persona 6 will also arrive on the upcoming Nintendo platform.

Nintendo also confirmed that its future hardware will receive Persona 6 at an unspecified date. Both mainline role-playing projects expand third-party support across competing ecosystems.

Kirby and the World Beyond showcases destructible terrain

Closing the broadcast, Kirby and the World Beyond appeared in a combat trailer displaying destructible stage geometry that exposes larger areas reminiscent of The Truman Show. Kirby battles foes across sprawling landscapes that yield hidden pathways. The game remains in active production.

Major ports and remaster projects confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2

Publishers confirmed multiple high-profile titles for Nintendo Switch 2, including Monster Hunter Wilds, Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion, and Meccha Chameleon.

  • Professor Layton and the New World of Steam arrives on December 10, 2026.
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition debuts on December 3.
  • Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis begins retail access on February 12.
  • Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity Definitive Edition releases on February 25.
  • Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 remakes arrive on Nintendo Switch 2.
  • Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Royal Edition and Cairn both target 2027 debuts.

Additional expansions and classic franchises fill the upcoming calendar

Nintendo Switch Sports Resort will launch on October 22, while Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass Part 2 arrives in September. Star Fox receives a complimentary update as Star Fox Adventures joins the Switch Online Nintendo Game Cube library.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will arrive on October 27 with characters from Tokyo Revengers, whereas Disney Dreamlight Valley: The Keepsake Sea launches in November. Yu-Gi-Oh! Tag Force GX and Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United are both scheduled for February 16, 2027. Proto Man joins the roster of Mega Man Dual Override.

Metal Slug Ultimate Collection, Danganronpa 2×2, and Ondeh Ondeh Kaya’s Tasty Tale will release in 2027.
