Nintendo unveils Metroid Ravenous and Kirby for Switch 2

Nintendo presented an extensive software catalog for the Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch systems during a global broadcast. The digital showcase introduced new entries in premier franchises alongside upgraded editions of existing titles.

Samus Aran returns in Metroid Ravenous as a brand-new two-dimensional action adventure designed exclusively for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console.

First party action titles announced for the new console

Metroid Ravenous launches on January 28, 2027, featuring an intense survival structure where bounty hunter Samus Aran confronts alien threats. Nintendo scheduled physical pre-orders to accompany the digital store release alongside individual amiibo figures representing Samus and a Chozo Statue. A collector package includes the base software, a steel game case, and an exclusive Samus Metroid Suit amiibo.

Kirby and the World Beyond introduces a three-dimensional adventure across vast terrain during the spring of 2027. The title coincides with the 35th anniversary of the franchise while Kirby Air Riders amiibo figures arrive on November 12.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Definitive Edition launches on February 25, 2027, with enhanced frame rates and an ultra-tough Calamity Mode set a century before the events of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Players holding the original Nintendo Switch version can transfer existing save data directly to the new console edition. Pikmin 4 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition arrives on November 12 with microphone voice controls for the rescue pup companion Oatchi alongside 72 Dandori Academy stages. Nintendo Switch Sports Resort introduces 12 motion-controlled sports across Wuhu Island on October 22.

Major third party productions arriving across platforms

The presentation revealed that Final Fantasy VII Revelation serves as the third and final installment in the remake project, following Cloud Strife and his companions aboard the airship Highwind to prevent the apocalyptic spell Meteor from destroying the planet on April 8, 2027. Square Enix also prepared Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion for the new platform, updating character models and orchestral arrangements composed by Takeharu Ishimoto. Both titles arrive in 2027.

Capcom confirmed Monster Hunter Wilds for Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, supporting cross-platform online multiplayer across the Forbidden Lands. The expansion Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance will follow on the system in 2027, while Lara Croft embarks on an expedition across Peru, Greece, and Egypt in Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis on February 12, 2027.

Publishers detailed several action releases across both console generations:

• Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition launch digitally on October 16 with visual enhancements powered by the RE Engine.
• Mega Man: Dual Override features Proto Man and Mega Man battling Robot Masters with Custom Chips in spring 2027.
• Yu-Gi-Oh! TAG FORCE GX revives GX TAG FORCE 3 with modernized visuals on February 16, 2027.
• FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves arrives digitally on October 22 with Tokyo Revengers guest fighters Mikey and Draken.

Atlus confirmed Persona 4 Revival for Nintendo Switch 2 on May 20, 2027, tasking players with investigating supernatural murders tied to the Midnight Channel. Persona 6 will also release on the platform with an original cast and standalone storyline.

CD Projekt RED brings The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered to Nintendo Switch 2 on September 29, featuring Joy-Con 2 mouse controls and gyro aiming. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave launches on September 17, placing tactical combat inside the Dagdan Empire. Eternal Anima brings turn-based combat and ancestral powers to the system on March 4, 2027, following a peacekeeper named Wade through temporal shifts. Bloober Team developed Onyx: The Dark Grip as a 2.5D horror title arriving in 2027, placing players in control of a divine entity manipulating a traveler through an abandoned town. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight arrives on September 18 with open-world combat in Gotham City. The Deluxe Edition bundles the Mayhem Collection DLC with villains The Joker and Harley Quinn.
