Samsung launches semiconductor research hub in Yokohama

Samsung Electronics opened its semiconductor research base in Yokohama, the capital of Kanagawa Prefecture, on September 9, 2026. The South Korean chip manufacturer held a formal ceremony on site to mark the facility entering full operational status.

Research focus targets rising artificial intelligence needs

The opening responds to growing worldwide demand for higher-end chips driven by artificial intelligence technologies. Work began immediately.
