Instagram provides a quiet mode feature inside its mobile application that disables push notifications for a continuous window of 12 hours. The system updates the user profile with an inactivity badge and alerts incoming Direct message senders about the status. Users toggle the setting instantly.

The built-in tool shuts down incoming sound and push notifications across the platform for a maximum span of 12 hours so that account holders can step away from mobile screens during night hours or personal rest periods. Followers who view the profile see an explicit label indicating that the account owner remains offline and will not receive real-time pings.

Procedure to configure quiet periods in account settings

Account owners initiate the setup by navigating directly to their personal profile tab on Instagram. Tapping the three horizontal lines in the upper corner displays the primary navigation menu. The selection leads straight into the Settings and privacy interface.

Members then locate the Notifications section situated within the main preferences list. From there, choosing the dedicated Quiet mode subcategory opens the configuration panel.

Activating the primary toggle labeled Quiet mode turns the suppression tool on. The software immediately establishes the framework for muted activity across the connected device. This switch serves as the master control for all scheduled silent windows.

Tapping the designated From and To fields establishes the precise daily timeframe for the suppression. Users define specific start and stop markers to fit their daily resting schedule.

Direct messaging contacts receive an automated notice if they send messages while the timer remains active. This automatic response informs friends that no notification reached the recipient during the pause. The sender sees this delivery notice right beneath their dispatched text inside the chat.

Reversing the process requires returning to the exact same configuration screen within the application. Users switch off the toggle and tap the confirmation prompt to restore normal notification delivery.
