Xiaomi mobile division president Lu Weibing confirmed that the upcoming Xiaomi 18 Pro will cost more than the predecessor model. The company executive delivered the statement directly to a follower on the social network Weibo. The manufacturer plans to reveal the complete device lineup on September 23.
The conversation started when a user mentioned that the prior Xiaomi 17 Pro reached stores starting at 5,699 yuan, an amount near R$ 4,347 in direct conversion. Questioned about the cost of the next generation, Weibing addressed the adjustment openly.
The executive stated that buyers will find the updated cost reasonable despite the higher retail charge. Official prices remain undisclosed. The Chinese brand withheld the specific numbers for the new generation during the exchange. Further commercial details await the scheduled broadcast.
Xiaomi schedules full device details for late September
The manufacturer kept the complete price sheet under embargo until the scheduled launch event. The presentation on September 23 will also introduce the larger Xiaomi 18 Pro Max to the public.
Weibing classified the impending release as the most comprehensive overhaul ever deployed across the flagship portfolio. The upgrades concentrate primarily on computational performance, the rear display panel, primary screen output, and photography hardware. He noted that the changes justify the updated retail pricing structure.
Hardware upgrades target imaging systems and battery capacity
The brand verified the inclusion of an unreleased sixth-generation Snapdragon 8 processor alongside a specialized Leica photographic setup carrying two 200 MP sensors and an updated Super Pixel display panel engineered with an M11 light emission system. The primary panel also integrates updated display materials for outdoor viewability.
- Screen bezels measuring 0.99 mm around the display
- Silicon battery technology across the entire smartphone family
- Xiaomi 18 Pro equipped with a 7,000 mAh battery
- Xiaomi 18 Pro Max equipped with an 8,500 mAh battery
A secondary display on the rear chassis constitutes a central hardware addition for the line. This rear panel presents modular widgets displaying stopwatches, cooking recipes, agenda meetings, physical workout metrics, delivery tracking updates, and alarm tools. Users interact with these notifications without waking the primary front panel. The hardware configuration enables quick access to daily device functions.
The launch event on September 23 will deliver the full specification sheet alongside regional availability schedules for both models. Weibing reiterated that the technical improvements reflect the higher price point of the devices.
