Hitler Mussolini Simeón Flores transitions from Fuerza Popular to victory

The newly elected mayor was born in the district of Queropalca on August 6, 1981, and built his professional career managing freight transport operations across the region. Prior to joining Ahora Nación, the political organization headed by Peruvian Senator Alfonso López-Chau, Simeón Flores belonged to Fuerza Popular, the right-wing party led by Peruvian President Keiko Fujimori, until submitting his formal resignation in 2025.

Following his triumph at the ballot box, Simeón Flores addressed local supporters through a statement published on his personal Facebook account, describing the campaign process as “meses de arduo trabalho, momentos difíciles y situaciones que pusieron a prueba nuestra fortaleza y unidad”. The Peruvian electoral calendar stipulates that municipal leaders elected on October 4, 2026, will assume their duties on Friday, January 1, 2027, when Simeón Flores is scheduled to take formal possession of the municipal office in Queropalca.

Security concerns for Hitler Mussolini after international attention

The combination of first names shared with European dictators Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini drew immediate international attention to the remote Andean locality once election tallies circulated. Party leaders from Ahora Nación reported that Simeón Flores was forced to change his telephone number after receiving hundreds of unsolicited calls and facing extortion attempts immediately following the publication of the final count. The personal reasoning of his parents in selecting the names at his birth in 1981 remains unknown.

Historical use of controversial names in Peruvian politics

The registration of unusual historical names is a documented occurrence within Peru, where records from the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status, known as Reniec, have identified thousands of citizens registered under the first name Hitler. Electoral contests in the country have previously featured candidates carrying the same moniker across multiple regional and national jurisdictions.

In 2018, politician Hitler Guesclin Alba Sánchez achieved international attention when he ran for mayor of the district of Yúngar, in the department of Áncash, adopting the campaign slogan “the good Hitler” while competing against an opponent named Lenin Vladimir Rodríguez Valverde; Alba Sánchez ultimately won that election. Three years later, in 2021, physician Hitler Saavedra Casternoque secured a seat in the national Congress of Peru representing the centrist party Somos Perú, serving in the legislative chamber after winning broad regional backing in his electoral district.

Simeón Flores is scheduled to take the oath of office in Queropalca on January 1, 2027, alongside elected district council members, to inaugurate his municipal administration for the upcoming legislative term.
