DR Automobiles confirmed the relaunch of the historic brands Itala and OSCA after acquiring the rights to both. The announcement took place this Friday (28) through television commercials and statements by President Massimo Di Risio. The project foresees production in Italian territory from the Jarama factory, in Anagni.
The initiative marks a change in the company’s strategy, which now prioritizes national components and reduces dependence on Asian suppliers. The first models from both brands should roll off the assembly line in the coming years.
History of Itala
Itala was founded in 1904 in Turim and stood out in the early years of motorsport.
The greatest achievement occurred in 1907, when the 35/45 HP model won the Pequim-Paris raid, covering 16 thousand kilometers in extreme conditions.
The brand also won the first edition of Targa Florio in 1906 with Alessandro Cagno.
Production ended in 1934, but the name remains a reference among collectors.
Origin of OSCA
The Maserati brothers created OSCA in 1947 after selling the original Maserati to the Orsi family.
The company focused on lightweight sports cars and high-precision engines.
The MT4 model won several endurance tests, including categories in the Mille Miglia.
The OSCA competed in the Fórmula 1 between 1951 and 1953 and ceased activities in 1967.
New factory in Anagni
The Jarama Srl unit, located in Anagni (Frosinone province), already operates with dozens of employees.
The plant underwent complete renovation and is receiving investment to expand capacity.
Part of DR’s current production already takes place on site, with the assembly of models such as the DR 5.0 and EVO.
The choice of factory aims to meet Italian origin requirements required by some European markets.
DR industrial plans
The company intends to gradually increase the index of national components in all vehicles.
The relaunch of Itala and OSCA will serve as a technological and Italian identity showcase.
Initial models should combine classic design with modern engines, including hybrid and electric options.
DR maintains technical partnerships with Chinese manufacturers, but transfers more and more steps to Itália.
Next steps of the project
Prototype tests are already taking place at the Anagni unit, according to internal company sources.
The official presentation of the first units is scheduled for 2026.
DR plans to use the two brands in different segments: Itala for luxury models and OSCA for sports cars.
The group seeks certification of Italian origin to access regional tax incentives.
The return of Itala and OSCA reinforces DR’s strategy of consolidating its presence in the European premium market through brands with recognized tradition.
