BYD introduced the Song Pro 2026 to the market, highlighting a more competitive pricing strategy and the inclusion of an advanced level Adas package in the GS version. The arrival of the model, contextualized for the 2025 automotive scenario, intensifies the dispute in the hybrid SUV segment, where the Chinese automaker seeks to consolidate its position.

Despite innovations and technological improvements, the vehicle had a slight reduction in its electric range. The GL version now offers 39 km, compared to the previous 49 km, while the GS went from 68 km to 62 km, according to data from Inmetro. Contudo, overall efficiency and an impressive combined range of 1,100 km remain the model’s strong points.

The main updates of the BYD Song Pro 2026 aim to strengthen its position in the automotive landscape, with a focus on value and technology. Estas include competitive starting prices starting at R$189,990 for the GL version and R$199,990 for the GS, in addition to the integration of the Adas level 2 package in the GS version for greater safety and driver assistance.

The launch takes place at a strategic time, with the Song Pro 2026 seeking to reaffirm BYD’s leadership in the electrified vehicle segment, where it has already demonstrated the ability to surpass major competitors such as the Toyota Corolla Cross and the Jeep Compass, firmly investing in connectivity, safety and energy efficiency.

Technological innovations raise the bar

The 2026 BYD Song Pro incorporates a series of technological features designed to enhance the driving experience and occupant comfort. The 12.8-inch rotating multimedia center is one of the most notable elements, offering 4G connectivity, intuitive voice commands and full integration with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, facilitating access to information and entertainment.

Complementing the multimedia, the 8.8-inch digital instrument panel presents a modern and clear interface for the driver. Comfort is guaranteed by dual zone air conditioning, which in the GS version also has a PM2.5 filter, ensuring air quality inside the cabin and contributing to a more pleasant environment on long journeys or in urban traffic.

Performance and efficiency of the mechanical assembly

The Song Pro 2026 maintains its plug-in hybrid system (PHEV), which combines a 1.5 naturally aspirated gasoline engine, delivering 98 hp, with an electric motor that can generate up to 197 hp, resulting in a combined power of 223 hp in the GL version and 235 hp in the GS. The Essa configuration allows for rapid acceleration, with the vehicle going from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds in the GL and in 7.9 seconds in the GS, while the Blade batteries, with an eight-year warranty, ensure a combined range of 1,100 km, reinforcing the SUV’s energy efficiency, despite the reduction in purely electric range.

Strategic design and functionality

The design of the Song Pro 2026 preserves the lines that have consolidated it as one of the leaders in the hybrid segment. The wide front grille, adorned with chrome details, and the vertical LED headlights, give BYD a striking visual identity, while the LED rear lights, joined by a light bar, and the 17-inch wheels with a pinwheel design update the look without major aesthetic disruptions.

Measuring 4.74 meters long, 1.86 meters wide and with a 520-liter trunk, the SUV is ideal for family use, offering ample interior space. The folding rear seats and the ISOFIX system are features that make transporting children easier, and the electric trunk unlocking provides practicality in everyday life.

Competitive position in the SUV segment

The Song Pro 2026 positions itself as a robust and attractive alternative to consolidated rivals such as the Toyota Corolla Cross and the Jeep Compass. The price reduction strategy, combined with possible tax incentives, makes the model more affordable, while the Adas level 2 package in the GS version responds to the growing demand for advanced safety technologies, attracting demanding consumers.

In the first half of 2025, the Song Pro recorded significant sales of 11,118 units, surpassing the Corolla Cross by more than 6 thousand units, according to data from Associação Brasileira of Veículo Elétrico (ABVE). Este performance demonstrates the model’s acceptance in the market, consolidating BYD’s leadership in the plug-in hybrid segment.

Despite the taxation on imported hybrids, which will increase from 25% to 30% from July 2025, the reduction of R$4,810 in the price of the vehicle helps to mitigate the impact on the consumer. The shorter electric range may be a point of attention for some, but the combined range of 1,100 km keeps the model highly competitive for a variety of travel needs.

Expansion of local production and BYD plans

The Camaçari, Bahia factory, acquired from Ford, is in the testing phase for the production of the Song Pro, marking an important step towards the nationalization of the vehicle. Although the units currently assembled are for testing and not commercial purposes, this initiative signals BYD’s long-term commitment to the Brazilian market.

Nationalization, expected to be consolidated in 2026, has the potential to significantly reduce production costs and increase the competitiveness of the model compared to competitors that already have local production, such as the Corolla Cross. Este strategic move could further strengthen BYD’s presence in the automotive scene.

BYD plans to expand its lineup of electrified vehicles in the country, with the possible introduction of a flexible hybrid engine in 2026 that could take advantage of existing ethanol infrastructure. Além In addition, the brand is investing in expanding the network of charging stations, with 25 points already in São Paulo and a forecast of 500 new units by the end of 2025.

These efforts reinforce BYD’s strategy of leading the electrified vehicle market, a sector that recorded growth of 9.5% in the first half of 2025, with 86,849 units registered, according to ABVE. The company seeks not only to sell cars, but also to develop a complete ecosystem for electric mobility.

Market strategies and consumer attractions

The price reduction for Song Pro 2026 is part of BYD’s broader strategy to take advantage of tax incentives, such as the IPI exemption for flexible vehicles, despite the taxes that still apply to imported hybrids. Para attract consumers, the brand offers a bonus of R$20,000 when exchanging old models and financing options at a rate of 0.99% per month, with a 60% down payment.

Confidence in the model’s durability is reinforced by the extended warranty of six years for the vehicle and eight years for the battery. Essa warranty policy demonstrates BYD’s commitment to the quality and longevity of its products, offering buyers peace of mind. Competition with the Toyota Corolla Cross, which offers a flex engine and greater consumption on highways, and the Jeep Compass 4xe, with all-wheel drive, is fierce, but the Song Pro stands out for its electric range and integrated technology.
