Honda officially announced the arrival of the new generation of WR-V on the Brazilian market, positioning the model as its new entry-level SUV. Production will be concentrated at the Itapira factory, in São Paulo, and the vehicle will occupy the market range below the HR-V, intensifying competition in the compact sports utility vehicle segment, one of the hottest in the country.

Scheduled to be launched in the second half of 2025, the new WR-V will enter into direct competition with strong competitors such as the Fiat Pulse, Volkswagen Nivus and the recently launched Renault Kardian. The Japanese brand’s strategy is to offer a robust, technological product with a complete safety package from the entry-level version onwards.

The main highlights of the model are the 1.5 flex engine with direct injection, already known from the City and HR-V brothers, and the inclusion of the Honda Sensing driver assistance technology package as a standard item in all versions, an important differentiator for the category.

Engine and performance

The mechanical set of the new Honda WR-V will be the 1.5 flex four-cylinder engine with direct fuel injection. Este propellant is already used successfully in other models of the brand and is recognized for its efficiency and reliability.

In terms of power, it delivers up to 126 horsepower when fueled with ethanol and 126 hp with gasoline, both at 6,200 rpm. The maximum torque is 15.8 kgfm with vegetable fuel and 15.5 kgfm with petroleum derivatives, available at 4,600 rpm, ensuring agility when starting off and regaining speed.

The transmission will always be an automatic CVT type (continuously variable transmission), which simulates seven gears. Esse gearbox is designed to optimize fuel consumption, providing a smooth, jerk-free drive, ideal for both urban traffic and road trips.

Although official figures for the Brasil have not yet been released, projections based on markets where the model has already been launched indicate acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 11.5 seconds and a top speed of 175 km/h, adequate performance for the vehicle’s purpose.

Fuel consumption

One of the strong points expected for the new WR-V is energy efficiency, thanks to the combination of the 1.5 engine and the CVT transmission. Consumption data for the Brazilian market will be confirmed by the Inmetro closer to launch, but it is possible to have an estimate based on the figures for the Honda City, which uses the same mechanical assembly.

With ethanol, the SUV should record averages of approximately 8.2 km/l in the city and 8.9 km/l on the highway. Quando fueled with gasoline, the numbers tend to be more favorable, reaching around 12 km/l in urban cycles and 12.8 km/l on highway routes, making it an economical option for daily use.

Dimensions and internal space

The new Honda WR-V stands out for its generous dimensions for the category, offering excellent internal space and versatility. The vehicle measures 4.32 meters long, 1.79 meters wide and 1.65 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2.65 meters. Essas measures guarantee good legroom for rear seat occupants and comfort for up to five adults. One of its biggest assets is the trunk, with a capacity of 458 liters, surpassing not only its direct competitors, but also its bigger brother, the HR-V. Além In addition, the ground clearance of 22 centimeters is an important difference, giving the WR-V greater capacity to tackle ditches, speed bumps and dirt roads with ease, reinforcing its SUV proposal.

Versions and standard equipment

The SUV will be sold at Brasil in two trim versions: EX and EXL. Desde the entry-level configuration, the WR-V promises a very complete equipment package, seeking to attract consumers who value technology and safety.

The EX version should leave the factory with full LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, digital air conditioning, reversing camera, 7-inch digital instrument panel and a 10-inch multimedia center with wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The big highlight, however, is the presence of the Honda Sensing package as standard. Este system includes adaptive cruise control (ACC), collision mitigation braking system, lane keeping assistant and lane avoidance mitigation system. Safety is complemented by six airbags, stability and traction control.

What the top-of-the-line version offers

The top-of-the-line version, EXL, will add comfort and sophistication to the already complete EX version package. Entre the differences are the LED fog lights, functional roof rack, leather-covered seats, induction cell phone charger and face-to-face key system with push-button start.

Another exclusive feature of the EXL version is myHonda Connect. Trata is a connectivity platform that, through an application on the smartphone, allows the owner to control various vehicle functions remotely, such as starting the engine and air conditioning, locking and unlocking the doors, in addition to accessing information about the car’s status and scheduling inspections.

Market strategy and pricing

With the new WR-V, Honda seeks to fill a gap in its portfolio and compete in one of the most profitable segments of the Brasil. The expectation is that prices will be in the range between R$145,000 and R$150,000, positioning the model to compete directly with the more equipped versions of its main competitors. The brand’s bet is to justify the value with a superior technology and safety package, especially with the offer of the Honda Sensing as a standard item.

Summary technical sheet

The technical package of the new Honda WR-V was designed to balance performance and efficiency. The engine is a 1.5 flex with 126 hp, coupled to a simulated seven-speed CVT automatic transmission. The front suspension is McPherson strut type and the rear suspension is a torsion beam, a robust configuration well adapted to Brazilian road conditions.

The brakes are disc on all four wheels, ensuring safe braking. The tires that fit the 17-inch wheels measure 215/55 R17. The factory warranty must follow the standard of Honda to Brasil, which is three years with no mileage limit, ensuring peace of mind for owners during the initial period of use of the vehicle.
