Toyota officially revealed the sixth generation of the RAV4, its most successful SUV globally. The model, initially launched in the Japão in December 2025, marks a fundamental strategic change for the line, completely abandoning exclusively combustion engines to adopt only hybrid engines in all its versions, including the E-Four all-wheel drive.
With a profoundly renewed exterior design, the main novelty is the “hammer head” style front, which gives the vehicle a more modern, robust appearance and in line with the brand’s most recent launches. The updates extend from appearance to onboard technology, with a new system that allows remote software updates, keeping the vehicle always up to date without the need for visits to the dealership.
The arrival of the new RAV4 in other markets will take place over the months following the Japanese launch. Unidades have already been spotted undergoing tests at Brasil, indicating a likely launch in the country in the first half of 2026, with possible adaptations to hybrid flex technology, which uses ethanol. The automaker reinforces its focus on sustainability without compromising the performance and practicality that have established the model.

Completely redesigned exterior design
The new visual identity of the RAV4 is characterized by the “hammerhead” front end, with tapered LED headlights and a grille integrated into the bumper, which replaces the more angular style of the previous generation with more fluid and contemporary lines. Apesar of modernization, the Toyota maintained essential elements of an SUV, such as the high ground clearance and the capacity for large diameter tires, preserving its vocation for different terrains.
The sides of the vehicle received softer creases and pronounced fenders, reinforcing its stance and presence on the streets. At the rear, the headlights adopt a horizontal and connected light signature, a pattern that has become common in the brand’s recent models. Essas changes are not just aesthetic; they also contribute to improving the vehicle’s aerodynamics, resulting in greater fuel efficiency.
Interior with more technology and sophistication
The RAV4’s cabin has been improved with a focus on technology and comfort. The highlight is the new multimedia center, which can reach 14 inches, depending on the version. The operating system allows “over-the-air” updates, ensuring that features are always in their latest version. The Toyota chose to maintain physical controls for essential functions, such as climate control and audio volume, making it easier to use while driving.
The choice of materials prioritizes a premium finish, with soft-touch surfaces and synthetic leather covering options. The interior space has been slightly increased, benefiting the comfort of rear seat passengers and the trunk capacity. Carregador induction cell phone and multiple USB-C ports become standard across the entire line.
The instrument panel is now fully digital and configurable, allowing the driver to choose between different display layouts and integrate information from navigation and assistance systems. Comandos Advanced voice responds to a more natural language, making interaction with the vehicle more intuitive and safe.
Exclusively hybrid engine
The sixth generation RAV4 uses the Toyota parallel hybrid system, which combines a 2.5-liter combustion engine with electric units. In standard configuration, combined power reaches 226 horsepower, providing more agile acceleration compared to the previous model. E-Four all-wheel drive, available in the most complete versions, distributes torque to the rear wheels through a dedicated electric motor, ensuring greater stability and capacity on low-grip surfaces. Para selected markets, the Toyota will offer a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant with a higher capacity battery, which will allow a pure electric range of more than 100 kilometers. Esta version allows daily urban use without pollutant emissions and can be recharged using common sockets or fast charging stations. Average fuel consumption has been optimized, although official figures for all markets are still in the approval process.
Enhanced security with new features
The Toyota Safety Sense security suite has been updated to its latest generation. The automatic emergency braking system now features improved pedestrian detection, working more effectively at night.
Adaptive cruise control (ACC) operates at low speeds, making it a useful feature in urban congestion. Já the lane keeping assistant makes trajectory corrections more precisely and smoothly.
The set of 360-degree cameras and ultrasonic sensors facilitate maneuvering in tight spaces, displaying a complete view of the vehicle’s surroundings on the multimedia screen. The blind spot monitoring system alerts the driver to the presence of vehicles in areas that are difficult to see.
Occupant protection is reinforced with curtain airbags, side airbags and a central airbag between the front seats. The body structure uses high-strength steel at strategic points to increase impact absorption in the event of collisions.
Versions available at launch
At Japão, the new RAV4 debuted in two main versions: Adventure and Z. The first focuses on a more robust look with off-road appeal, while the second prioritizes elegance and urban use. Ambas configurations include the full hybrid system and advanced connectivity equipment as standard.
On the Estados Unidos, the range of options is expanded with finishes such as the Woodland, which has a raised suspension and mixed-use tires, aimed at more adventurous use. Pacotes options allow you to add luxury items, such as a panoramic sunroof and a premium JBL sound system.
Expectations for the Brazilian market
The arrival of the new RAV4 at the Brasil is expected in the first half of 2026. The Toyota will probably adapt the model to flex hybrid technology, already present in other branded vehicles in the country, such as the Corolla and the Corolla Cross, optimizing efficiency with the use of ethanol. The model will compete directly with other SUVs in the segment, such as the Honda CR-V and the Volkswagen Tiguan. The price positioning has not yet been released, but a value above the current generation is expected due to technological innovations and the new powertrain. The dealership network is already preparing to receive the model, with specific training for sales and after-sales teams.
