Honda Motor of Brasil officially launched a new version of its renowned mixed-use motorcycle, the XR300L Tornado Special Edition. The announcement, made on January 15, 2026, reveals a model with a visual appeal strongly inspired by the motorcycles that compete in the challenging Rally Dakar, one of the most demanding races in world motorsport. The novelty arrives to expand the brand’s portfolio in the growing medium-displacement trail segment.

With a suggested public price set at R$31,540, excluding shipping and insurance expenses, the special edition will be available at the brand’s dealership network across the country from February onwards. The Japanese manufacturer’s strategy is to meet the demand of consumers who are looking for a versatile motorcycle for everyday use, but who do not give up on an exclusive design with a strong off-road identity.

This version differs from the standard mainly due to its graphic package, which refers directly to the Honda competition team. The mechanical base, already known and approved by the market, remains unchanged, guaranteeing the robustness and reliability that have been hallmarks of the Tornado line since its first generations.

Competition look for the streets

The main attraction of the XR300L Tornado Special Edition 2026 is, without a doubt, its design. The exclusive graphics were carefully developed to replicate the aesthetics of the powerful CRF 450 Rally, which accumulate victories and podiums for the Honda in the Rally Dakar. The stickers cover strategic areas such as the fuel tank, side fins and front fender, creating a unique and aggressive visual identity that immediately stands out compared to the standard version. The color palette is dominated by the vibrant red of the Honda, complemented by details in white and black, reinforcing the connection with the world of competitions and the spirit of adventure.

This aesthetic approach not only beautifies the motorcycle, but also positions it as an object of desire for off-road enthusiasts and admirers of the brand. Honda is betting that the bold look will be a decisive purchasing factor for many customers, who want the feeling of driving a machine with rally DNA, even if the main use is in urban centers. The differentiated finish, which includes details on the chassis and wheels, completes the set, giving the Special Edition a premium model status within the manufacturer’s 300 cc line.

Robust and reliable mechanical assembly

Under the new guise, the XR300L Tornado Special Edition maintains the renowned mechanical assembly that equips the standard version. The heart of the motorcycle is the 293.5 cm³ OHC single-cylinder engine, with four valves, air cooling and PGM-FI electronic injection system, which guarantees precise throttle responses and efficient fuel consumption.

This engine is capable of delivering a maximum power of 24.7 hp at 8,000 rpm and a torque of 2.6 kgf.m at 6,000 rpm, numbers that translate into agility in urban traffic and enough strength to overcome obstacles on unpaved terrain. Performance is optimized by the six-speed transmission, which offers well-distributed scaling for different riding situations.

One of the highlights of the set is the assisted and slipper clutch. The assisted system reduces the effort required to operate the lever, providing more comfort on long journeys or in heavy traffic. Já the sliding function prevents the rear wheel from locking during sudden downshifts, significantly increasing rider safety, especially on low-grip surfaces.

Structure ready for any terrain

The XR300L Tornado’s chassis was designed to offer an ideal balance between agility and stability. The steel semi-double cradle chassis provides the necessary rigidity for safe driving at high speeds, while also guaranteeing the resistance required for off-road use.

The suspension system is one of the model’s strong points, with a telescopic fork at the front that offers 240 mm of travel. Esse long travel allows it to efficiently absorb irregularities in the ground, from holes in the asphalt to ditches on dirt trails.

At the rear, the motorcycle uses the Pro-Link system with aluminum scales and a single spring, which provides 225 mm of travel. Essa progressive configuration helps keep the wheel in contact with the ground, improving traction and rider comfort on any type of terrain.

The braking system has discs on both wheels, one measuring 256 mm at the front and the other measuring 220 mm at the rear, equipped with a two-channel ABS system. The spoked wheels, with 21-inch rims at the front and 18-inch rims at the rear, are shod with mixed-use tires, reinforcing the model’s adventurous vocation.

Standard equipment and technology

The XR300L Tornado Special Edition leaves the factory with a complete equipment package that positions it as one of the most modern in its category. The instrument panel is fully digital, with a blackout LCD display, which offers excellent information visualization even in direct sunlight. Nele, the pilot has access to data such as speedometer, total and partial odometer, fuel level indicator and clock. Full LED lighting, including headlights, flashlights and turn signals, not only modernizes the look of the motorcycle, but also guarantees much better visibility during night riding, increasing safety. Outro A very useful item, especially for those who use the motorcycle for trips or long journeys, is the USB-C socket located next to the dashboard, which allows you to conveniently charge smartphones and other electronic devices. With a seat height of 885 mm and a curb weight of 148 kg, the motorcycle offers an upright and comfortable riding position, while the 13.8 liter fuel tank ensures good range, reducing the need for frequent fuel stops.

The growth of the adventure segment

The launch of the Special Edition comes at a strategic time for the Honda, taking advantage of the high demand for trail motorcycles in the Brasil.

Market data, such as those released by Fenabrave, indicate a 12% increase in trail motorcycle registrations in 2025, and Honda holds a share of more than 40% in this volume. The XR300L
